CNT communique: support for UMP occupation arrestees

Statement from the anarcho-syndicalist organisation CNT-France in support of 8 arrest in an anti-CPE occupation.

Submitted by jef costello on March 24, 2006

On Tuesday March 14th a group made up of about fifty students, secondary-school pupils, workers and unemployed met with the aim of carrying out a peaceful, symbolic action to show their refusal of the CPE and precariousness. The group decided to occupy the local branch of the UMP. Following this, 8 people were arrested by the police force and taken into custody.

UD Rhone CNT decided to react initially by writing to the prefecture to call for the abandonment of any prosecution. It it will also be necessary to organize support for the 8, in the event of a prosecution. This letter can be reused and sent to the prefect to support the 8 arrested protesters.

M le préfet,

Within the framework of the current social movement in which we take part, all together, Tuesday March 14, 2006, a group made up of about fifty students, secondary-school pupils, workers and unemployed met with the aim of carrying out a peaceful, symbolic action to show their refusal of the CPE and precariousness. The group decided to occupy the local branch of the UMP. Following this, 8 people were arrested by the police force and taken into custody. These arrests are inadmissible as they are the criminalisation of a social movement. We make a point of giving our unrelenting support to these people and we urge that any prosecution be abandoned.
