"Quick... get some brown paint!"

Spray painted on a freshly painted brown wall on an estate in Brixton in 'forget-me-not' blue. Why do councils spend so much money painting over often very nice graffiti in such horrible institutional colours?

Immoral words

Apprently in Ireland the people who control the domain registry (i.e. the registration of domain names) deem 'porn' to be an immoral word. What the hell does that mean? This is pretty bizarre - how can a word even be immoral? Is Ireland really that backward?

Closer to an abode?

Since my last important update on my quest to find somewhere to live...

One agent refused to show me a property in Stepney Green because I wasn't yuppie enough for the landlord.

I had an offer turned down on a small (albeit with roof terrace) flat in Whitechapel. But that was round the corner from LARC and who would want to live there? wink

Internet cafes without teenagers?

I could never imagine internet cafe's without teenagers doing pointless online things like the rest of us. Apprently under Chinese law, one must be over 18 to use an internet cafe. Seven cafes have recently been closed down in one province for letting younger people use their compiuters.

US attempts to shutdown 'Russian ITunes'

These has been going on for a while now, the music industry in the US has been trying to get a Russian website shutdown which massively undercuts the prices of music on Itunes.

Now all they need to do is make it look nice

D-Link have announced an open Linux run cell phone on the market next year (in the states I imagine), says Slashdot. Like most things Linux it doesn't look very good and at US$600 seems kinda expensive for something running on open source software!

Continuing my journey to find a dwelling...
