I believe strongly in AFED. And I would be proud to be a memeber.
However, I just wanted to see what other people thought about how "loud" about being an Anarchist you should be.

The person who made me interested in AFED is extremely proud, and not scared to admit what he believes in. I would not be either. But I know of some who aren't extremely enthusiastic about being so forward about it.

I don't know, this might sound silly, but I'm really interested in what people think.

well, it depends where you are and who you're talking to. for example, being loud about your politics at work is not a good idea, as your boss might not want you around for much longer. however introducing your workmates or friends to it at the pub or whatever isn't a bad idea, particularly if there's issues going on at work or in your neighbourhood that could be discussed. however in terms of how 'loud' you should be, people will be put off if you're too gung-ho about it. it's best to discuss/introduce your ideas in context, perhaps not even giving them a label at first, because despite their obvious superiority ( wink ) people don't like the words 'anarchist' 'communist' or 'socialist'. they will be more amenable to them once you've proved yourself not to be a mental.

edit: i'm not in afed. didnt realise it was in this forum. point stands though.

Yeah, everything Jenni says is pretty much spot-on. Ultimately, the way you behave is more important than how you describe yourself or how loudly you say it.

you don't have to shout it, but i personally think there's something wrong about not saying it when its relevant, or asked about it, in that it works against anarchism as a whole
