birov group politics?

This Belgrade group seems to combine a number of standpoints derived from several political tendencies commonly found on this site and termed 'anarcho-syndicalism', 'council and left communism' and includes some discussion relevant to that previously sparked by the earlier 'Brighton SolFed' strategy document.

See their statement at:

http://www.birov.net/0,,1544630,00.html

What do other anarcho-syndicalists including those from SolFed/IWA make of it?

Birov calls themselves an anarcho-syndicalist group. They are inspired with what they call "ultra-left" (by which they refer to left communism of ICC) and "Foraist" anarcho-syndicalism. From discussions I had with comrades and their views thowards activism and interventions in class struggle I could say that they are less anarcho-sydicalist and more left communist.

I believe that this anarcho-syndicalist "tag" has more to do with the fact that they used to be members of Serbian IWA section ASI, but they left due to left wing populism and oportunism of ASI.

I'm from Croatia and my group had meeting with Birov comrades.

They are. I'll tell them to check this thread and participate in discussion.

We published their basic declaration, with a short intro, here:

seriously? i have criticisms of those small east europe IWA sections, but very rarely 'left wing populism / opportunism'. if anything the opposite... ? would be interested if you could cite some sources (admittedly you may have got this from personal conversation if you met them)

you should name the groups if you want to bash them...

as for ASI, K. could cite extensively i guess:) and anyone who cares about more than the city or country (s)he lives in. but i rather should not open the anglo-centrism issue again as it never leads anywhere (and am again offtopic...).

Dear comrade, I've never mentioned "Eastern European IWA sections" but one precisely - ASI, Serbian section. Other "East European" sections, like KRAS, PA and ZSP are, at least from my humble opinion, the best sections that IWA has. Also, as comrade MT said I could go for ever about ASI. Of course, I've met them, because I used to be international secretary of anarcho-syndicalist organisation from Croatia... I don't know what do you want me to cite. Anarcho-syndicalist movement, or at least my ex-organisation, is not well know for having a backbone, so there was no material on their populism and other kinds of bourgeois behavior published. But that doesn't mean that it will stay on that wink
