Doing any Xmas shopping? Help raise money for libcom.

Dear all, if you were planning on doing any of your Xmas shopping on Amazon.co.uk, please visit this site via one of our specially formatted links such as this one:
Amazon.co.uk

5% of the price of all of your purchases will be given to libcom.org at no extra cost to the buyer. All you have to do is access Amazon using the link above.

You can access this link any time via http://libcom.org/notes/donate

To clarify, we are not encouraging people to shop on Amazon, but if people are going to already then please do so via this link. This deal runs all year round, not just at Christmas time

Is this deal continuing or will it eventually have a end date?

Is it possible to have an arrangement with other amazons as well, or are youse limited to the Uk one? Because I would totally go through your "shop" on the rare occasions when I can afford to buy shit online.

thanks, now fixed.

At the moment this only works with the UK site. We would like to have a similar setup with ones in Canada or the US, but we would need a trustworthy person there to hold a bank account for us. If any one wants to do that let me know.

We did used to have a similar deal with a radical online bookstore as well, but it's shut down. If any other radical publishers could set up something similar, we would definitely sign up.

surely asking for donations is better than advertising for amazon?

it's not a huge amount, but it is an okay percentage of our total outgoings, something like £90 per year. Our hosting costs are something like £1200 a year. so we don't depend on it, but it helps as break even ( well , not break even because at the moment admin subs and user donations are exceeded by our costs, but help us lose less money each month)

sounds like libcom is a 'capitalist website', just like Wikipedia.

We'd need someone with a bank account in Canada to set that up.

Oh wait!
