Libcom TV is here!

So, after bashing my head at a computer for hours I'm pleased to say that we are now able to provide stable hosting for videos on libcom.

Basically, in the past, when videos have been uploaded or embedded we've found that after some time, for one reason or another, videos have become unavailable (the person who uploaded the video decides to remove it, delete their account etc etc).

Anyway, this problem should now be solved now that we've opened an account on vimeo which we can upload them to. So far, we have uploaded Past to Present: Lessons of the New Zealand Labour Movement and Crises of capitalism by David Harvey.

The next priorities for me will be to go through everything in our videos tag and add those to our vimeo account. However, after that, we will be taking requests so if you have any videos you would like to add to libcom please post them here!

Also, be aware that we also have a soundcloud account now so any audio files can also be hosted without any problems.

Hope you enjoy the new feature!

Nice one!

Should make sure that we credit with a link the copyright holders of these videos from their vimeo page

Not sure if there's the capacity for full films on Vimeo but that would be good? Otherwise how about a list of torrents on here somewhere? La Patagonia Rebelde and Office Space red n black star

Red, have you got any more info on what that video is about? Stuff like year, location, what it was for etc?

Looks good though, Makhno looking pretty gangster in that hat.. smile

I guess it's a newsreel of the time - though if, as stated beneath the video, it's from 1919 it's probably not a Bolshevik news agency as that was prior to any truce.

Cool, added it here: http://libcom.org/library/video-footage-nestor-makhno-1919

Anyone got any other requests? Just post them up here and we'll see what we can do!

Good stuff everyone, will start putting stuff up asap..

JK, when you say 'stitching them back together' do you mean making them all one long video again? How would I do that?

Ed, I'd guess either in windows movie maker or there must be a free app about that can do it. I'll ask on Twitter...

This would be a good video if it wasn't for the person constantly clearing his throat. Very distracting noise.

The only documentary on the student protests that I've seen:
http://libcom.org/forums/general/documentary-about-student-protests-riots-1
It's good in terms of laying the chronology of events, but it has a few dodgy commentators (Soloman, Charlie the 'love police' guy and that anthropological anarchist whose name escapes me).

Paul O'Grady supporting the students:

The infamous BBC interview with Jody McIntyre:

Ed, it would be cool to set up the vimeo account to automatically plug into libcom twitter and Facebook accounts. You want to have a go? If not I will at some point when I get a chance

Looks hot to me. Slightly sharper typography and it'd been great.

best scene from Land and Freedom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njWMkZYazCM

(CNT members actually participated in this debate, including an old militant who'd fought in the Spanish Civil War)
When i listened to the commentary on this scene, apparently on one of the takes, when the chair began to talk, the old anarchist bloke interrupted, questioning who elected the chair, and made them all take a vote !

Harrison, would you have voted for collectivisation?

yes, because i would've wanted to see the deepening and extension of the revolution....

one of the biggest regrets of the CNT today is that they did not fully pursue a revolutionary path after 1936, but opted instead for collaboration with sections of the bourgeoisie and the stalinists.
