Projectile - Anarchist Film Festival, Newcastle, 16-18 June

Here comes the advert...

Projectile is back!

Last year over a hundred people travelled up to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for the City’s first anarchist film festival, which from the feedback we received was a cracking success. This year’s Projectile will be at the all new Star and Shadow cinema in Newcastle and will, like Projectile 2005, run over a full weekend:

Friday June 16th - Sunday June 18th, 2006

Again, we’ve put together a full programme of films, talks and workshops - though the scheduling won’t be quite as frenetic, to allow a bit more socialising. In fact, given the guaranteed sunshine, there’ll be plenty of time for a lazy outdoor pint in this interesting area of the Toon.

The Star and Shadow is on Crawhall Road, near the Byker Bridge and is being currently fitted out as a new cinema (it inherits the mantle of the Side Cinema whose lease ran out). Those attending Projectile will be able to crash in the building itself - a major advance on last year. So, whether you’re red, black green or a Clown, get that train ticket booked.

Films include:

The Angry Brigade/Persons Unknown

Winstanley

Spanish Civil War epic, Libertarias

Made in Secret: the story of the East Van Porn Collective

La Patagonia Rebelde

They Live!

… and the planned Talks/Workshops include:

Anarchism, Feminism and Women’s Health - the politics of self examination

Celebrating the Spanish revolution - the 70th Anniversary

Islamaphobia and the Trots - the SWP might be spectacularly opportunistic, but how should we build alliances?

Nestor Makhno: the Cossack of Anarchy - who was he and why is he important?

Forum: Class, the Workplace and Anarchism - a roundtable discussion

Open Sources Workshop - err.. it does what it says on the tin

Social Centres - activist ghettos or great resources for communities and campaigning?
