Vestas and the Workers’ Climate Action, Sat 1 Aug, London
Workers’ Climate Action meeting Saturday, London The work of Workers’ Climate Action has been pivotal in getting the action at the Vestas plant on the Isle of Wight. It was activists, mainly young, from the group who went down to the island and first began talking to Vestas workers about the possibility of resisting closure and the loss of their jobs. They brought in outside expertise to discuss different aspects of taking action, and worked to bolster the confidence of the Vestas workers.
They helped the workers to set up and maintain this blog and the savevestas email account. They are still active on the island and around the country in protests and meetings about Vestas. Tomorrow they are holding a meeting for anyone to come and find out more about WCA and, particularly, discuss the Vestas campaign.
Feel free to come along and to advertise this meeting. It’s being hosted at the RMT; if you are coming it might be as well to ring the mobile number below and let them know, but if you can’t ring, turn up anyway.
