"Web of Hate" on the Guardian

"On the rightwing website Redwatch, hundreds of photographs of anti-war and anti-fascist activists are posted - with the message that they will 'pay for their crimes'. And now a number of those people have been attacked. So why hasn't the site been closed down? Matthew Taylor investigates."

heh, you've got to laugh...

If any fash are reading this fuming from red/liberal conspiracy 1) fuck off and die 2) you are actually completely right on this one 3) fuck off and die.

The whole article is written by searchlight clearly, theres little point in the name at the top. The way it constantky talks about these multiple attacks coming from redwatch - sometimes literally from 'the people behind redwatch' - but only lists 2 is typical.

"West Yorkshire officers took the threats seriously and advised Lazenby to improve his personal security, telling him to vary his route home from work. "I have been on that site since it started and, apart from verbal attacks in the street, nothing has happened to me yet. But every time you hear of an attack it really makes you think. A young man whose details went up after he was spotted delivering anti-fascist leaflets was badly beaten. Then there was the stabbing [of McFadden] over on Merseyside, and there are plenty of other cases that don't make the papers. Each time an attack happens, it pulls you up. But you can't let it influence your work, you have to keep going."

of coooooourse there are. Thousands of redwatch attacks that the papers are too busy printing celeb stories to cover.

The constant use of manipulative language like:
"reporters who have published "fair, accurate and professional stories" on the BNP and other far right organisations have been targeted in Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Sunderland, Birmingham and Cardiff."

1) have been targetted? Obviously loaded phrase. 2) listing ab unch of cities like that, to emphasise the size of the targetting/RW actions.

after all this you'd have real trouble swallowing the following expose that links RW to a e list of targets
(which include several cops!). In fact they do not even attempt to suggest what the link was. A group of fash have an e list where they wank over possibly attacking people, and this reveals the true nature of redwatch. Wow. Thats great journalism.

well whatever, nobodies crying if RW goes but 2 sad nazis.

this still gets on my tits
"We have quite rightly managed to close down paedophile sites and others that are deemed unacceptable, and I am sure that if Redwatch was targeting the richest 100 people in the country, it would be swiftly dealt with".

No, the state has close paedophile PORN rings. Sites which say fucking kids is just a good idea (like NAMBLA) are legal. Advocacy is legal in almost all cases.

I think the guardian should be banned, julie burchill wrote for it over decades and made sinister threats against millions.

picking apart the shittyness of tabloid searchlight writing, the article linked to here has the info and articulates my rant.

it does read as if its bigging up redwatch a little, shame about the bloke who got stabbed but its hardly an example of an insatiable and unrepentent campaign against "traitors", even the guy on the front page says he's never been attacked! Frankly i dont know of anyone whose been worried in the slightest by their picture appearing on redwatch, its more an object of humour than something that strikes fear into the hearts of readers most of whom are lefties anyway!

They're shouting PM; in the hope that we won't notice that they're barely literate muppets. Still you have to be quite impressed that they can even turn a pc on let alone find Libcom on the net. Mind you for every one of them that manages it there's probably ten sitting banging their heads on keyboards wondering why the screen is blank.

Nah you're thinking of Albania. Britania specialise in tall-standing erections.

Another example of the latent homosexual tendencies of the nazi milieu?

I think the site is an embaressement, to them and to us.

To them cause it's so amateurish, and to us beceause of all the wierdoes. On second thought, I don't know howmuch of "us" there is, with those uniformed morons with the big Stalin posters and me.

One of the people behind 'R*dw*tch, Chris Beverly, sent a letter threatening a Jewish UAF member to the Morley local newspaper, which they printed. Mr Beverley, said: "We know where you are, Alex." For months, when Mr Sobel returned from work, he found a car parked in his drive which he discovered was his neighbour's from across the road who was a BNP candidate for another ward. Then Mr Sobel's picture and address were posted on the Redwatch website. Redwatch/BNP threatened Alex Sobel in the streets, in the newspaper, and on the internet.

What type of man is Alex Sobel? He's a labour candidate, and UAF member, as well as a member of Jews for Justice for Palestinians. When former UJIA president Dov Hamburger voiced a 'popular' press-style warning of the alleged "rampant Islamic threat faced by Jews", Alex Sobel responded: "I resent your language about the Islamic threat. We must not retreat behind the dark language of talking about homogenous communities. We have to be careful how we use language. We should sit down and engage people and not label and stereotype."

Many of us are of the opinion that had this originated from Islamic sources, without a shadow of a doubt, it would have been closed down, and the tabloid press would have had a field day with headlines like 'Muslim hate-site' splashed over the front page, and prominent prosecutions for incitement to violence etc been administered by the state.
