Yea so mine died. I need a new one. What are the good ones at the moment, I haven't looked for over a year.

Creative Vision and Sony NW3000 are looking good to me, but what are the sweet "underground" ones?

Minimum 20 gig hd, other than that no real specifications...

I "got with the program" a month ago and bought one of them ipods, pretty sweet. Just the cheap shuffle one of amazon for 43 quid inc p+p, no complaints so far!

Oh, how the proud have fallen. I remember when we both bought our mp3 players and you boasting about much better yours was than mine. 18 months or so later, my 40GB Zen is still going strong and not even full. You suck, you suck, you suck.

I'm waiting for Creative to release a 60GB version of the Vision:M because I've got far more than 30GB of files.

I just got me one of these. Turned up this afternoon and I've been putting all my music on it.

It's only 6gb (expandable to 8gb with microSD cards), but it has no hard disk and so is less prone to being trashed. (They're releasing an 8gb version soon.) It also has a removable battery, so you don't have to send it back to the manufacturer when it dies. And it works with Linux. Also plays video and shows pictures.

Also, I linked through from libcom when I bought it, so hopefully libcom made some money.

I have to go and play with it now!

I can fit like 15 songs on my new phone. I'm happy with that...it means I can play Fear in public places hahah.

Nice One - I got the 4 gig version. you should have bought it from the states though - that way the radio wouldn't be disabled in it!

Jack the Sony one is shit dont get that. You can only use sonys crap software to move put songs on it.

I have the 150£ 20GB creative zen off amazon and its pretty good, no complaints here. But only had it 2 months.

Yea I feared the software would suck, I remember from when I had a NetMD.

But it looks so cool!

And 35 hour battery life!

Just used the audio input, it meant it had to be done in real time, which wa a bit shitty.
But the way it buggered up my files meant that I couldn't use the net stuff.

I mean fair fucks Sony's software was fucking awful, but it's stll better than having to fuck about recording shit like it's 1982.

Back in 1982 we had to use trained bees to copy music from one wax cylinder to another.

You can get files from other Zune users around you - which automatically delete after 3 listens or 3 days.

Meant to be a try before you buy thing I guess.

Dunno if you can just take anyones connection or whatever, or if they have to activly send it to you.

I had problems with files going corrupt, then copying to the player slowed down to a crawl. Now when I try to power it on it keeps starting up then powering off and on over and over, and the only way to get it to stop is to switch on hold, and wait for it to shut down itself. I can't even try formatting it, because it needs to be powered on to do that. And looking at a user forum for the player, other people have had this problem, and the advice is to take it back, as there is nothing you can do. neutral

Someone will/should come up with some hack to get rid of the delete after 3 days feature.

I once bought a mp3 player for 20 quid and it was made by alba (which is usually crap quality from what i've experienced). strangely, it lasted me a very long time, ....then i dropped it down a bloody drain!

Get an iRiver, so you can play ogg files. They compress better than mp3s, so you can store more. The modern ones don't offer a lot of storage space though which sucks.

I think some Samsungs also play ogg
