Stop the bid stuff?

Forgive me if I'm being thick here, but what's the deal with the anti-Olympics stuff? Admitadly its probably going to be a total waste of money, but is there anything more to it? I don't understand why its such a big deal (not being dismissive here, I genuinely don't get it).

Demo in east london (stratford) feb 19th...

It'll allow gentrification to extend right into the Lea Valley, which has been resistant to it so far - meaning massive price rises in the poorest areas of Hackney and Newham.
Local sports facilities like Hackney East Marsh (largest area of football pitches in Europe) will be concreted over for a year or more. That's a whole year's worth of local sport disrupted so people can park there for two weeks and watch pros.
Quite a lot of other green space like the Eastway cycle paths, canal walkways will have limited or no access for months - either due to construction or security.
Several construction workers in Greece died due to poor health and safety, a rush job could lead to a similar situation here.
Transport infrastructure is very unlikely to cope, East London line unlikely to be finished in time.
Hackney's non-olympic regeneration plan has already been pushed six months because of bid preparations - so if it doesn't happen (likely) it's still having a negative effect.
