i was doidn a bit of a search last ngiht and found a report on it - will see if i can find it again.....
i am pretty sure that they can't take your DNA for offences like highway obstruction, but at the rate they are taking away any tiny remaining bits of our cicil libertied i wouldnt be fucking suprised if it has changed and it is now an offence punishable by ten years in prison

Oh fuck off. There's NO way whatsoever resisting will get you anywhere. Why the fuck would you resist, if doing so will gain you nothing, but will give them something else they can charge you with, give them a (legal) excuse to be violent to you, and cause them to be far bigger cunts to anyone you've been arrested with.
If you're going to go and do something you can get arrested for, then act like a fucking adult and accept the consequences. Trying to resist them taking your DNA, when the chance of you succeeding is somewhere alongside the chance of the police station being blown down by a hurricane is fucking stupid, and really irresponsible to advocate on a public forum.

i refused to let them take mine (they pulled my hair out in the end) and i didnt get charged with anything. don't have any scars to prove it either

1. You're in the police station.
2. They're legally allowed to take DNA.
3. Police don't like anarchists.
4. Police don't like people doing things they want to do.
5. Police like this even less when they're legally allowed to do it.
6. In that situation, the police are LEGALLY allowed to use force to take the DNA.
7. Even when not legally allowed to use force, anarchists are often subject to police violence.
8. If they want it, they WILL take it. End of discussion. If you really think the police are going to give up trying to take DNA because some fucking hippy resists, then you're not living in the real world.
So, basically:
If you want to make a point of resisting, risk fucking over those you're with (and I certainly know, from when I've been arrested, others with you being awkward DOES lead the cops to being far bigger cocks), risk getting yourself beaten up as they use "reasonable" force to take the DNA and give the police something else they can charge you with, try and stop them.
If you want to live in the real world, accept they're going to take it whatever you do, and just get the arrest over with as quickly as possible, and be out of there as safely and easily as you can, then just bite the fucking bullet, accept the ineveitable, and let them take it.
If you resist, you're fucking asking to get beaten up and have NO right complaining if that happens. In fact, if you sustain any injuries, you should be forced to give written apologies to any medical staff who have to waste time treating you, anyone who's treatment is delayed by your idiocity, and anyone who has to help you home. And then you should give up anarchism, and put your head in the oven.

the cops need to get the authority of an inspector to use force to get DNA if a detained person refuses to give it willingly.
that permission is not always granted, so why give your dna when you don't have to?
as i have said i know that refusing and resisting has worked on occassion (i also know of occassions where it hasnt)
i think depending on the situation it can be worth refusing and resisting dna, prints and photographs.

Anyway, of course it's not "ok" for that to happen, but why bother resisting it when assaulting a cop now has an automatic custodial sentence? Cops have been known to use whatever force they please (and if you end up dead sure won't be them who get the blame) especially when inside police stations, so why bother? I can see wheer you're coming from as a matter of principle tho.

Ok not really but he's completely right. It's about time anarchists starting living in the real world instead of believing that they somehow get different rules. Word up: the police are cocks, laws are repressive, we all know this. However, if you wanna foment any sort of viable and plausible resistance to the current status quo and somehow implement any iota of social change, you'll have to be realistic and think through your actions fully.
Once you've been nicked, that's it. Your immediate priority is getting through the procedure and out the nick ASAP with as little charges and problems hanging over your head as possible. Attempting Rambo V: Sly Becomes An Anarchist And Single-Handedly Defeats An Entire Police Station Full Of Cops is about as useful as strapping explosives to your chest and walking into your local Starbucks.
