Didn't know where else to put it:

Two gay Iranian teenagers -- one 18, the other believed to be 16 or 17,

were executed this week for the "crime" of homosexuality, the Iranian

Student News Agency (ISNA) reported on July 19. (The ISNA report is in

Farsi, and was translated into English by the British gay rights group

OutRage!, ISNA also provided the terrifying photos of the teens' last

moments. The two youths -- identified only by their initials as M.A. and

A.M., were hanged on July 19 in Edalat (Justice) Square in the city of

Mashhad in north-eastern Iran, on the orders of Court No. 19. The hanging

of the teens was also reported by the National Council of Resistance of

Iran.

You can't tell them what to do. That's cultural fascism, and you trying to impose your Western values upon them.

What culture are you part of? The myth of a homogenous 'western' culture is just as damaging as the myth of a 'muslim' culture.

My loyalty is to the social movements in the UK, and not to managers, etc. who may happen to watch some of the same TV programmes or read similar books to me.

Obviously Kalabine wasn't trying to make some nationalistic statement. I think he was just trying to point out the stupidity of the idea that because of cultural sensitivity you can't oppose stuff like female circumcision or Islamic homophobia etc.

So can all kinds of homophobia. Calling it 'islamic homophobia' plays into the hands of those people who think there are inherant features that distinguish certain 'cultures'.

Multiculturist angry

BTW get over to the G8 forum, they're arguing about Andrew Gilligan.

A 50 year old man who admitted having gay sex was sentenced to death by stoning

last week, under Nigeria's strict Sharia laws.

The unnamed man is currently languishing on Death Row though is being aided by

UN executions chief Philip Alston, who launched a publicity campaign this week,

calling for the punishment to be rescinded.

"Sodomy cannot be considered one of the most serious crimes for which, under

international law, the death penalty can be prescribed," Mr Alston said in a

press statement, "The punishment is wholly disproportionate." (Reuters)

The man's sentence came weeks after a Saudi Arabian Judge confirmed that a

number of local men suspected of attending a gay party last January could face

execution by stoning 'if they were married and found guilty of homosexual acts'.

"Factors including the period of time these men had been involved in homosexual

activity and any previous offences in this regard would be taken into

consideration when passing judgment," said the BBC Monitoring Middle Eastern

section, reporting on the ongoing case in May.

The Biblical style punishment is still carried out in Iran, under strict

procedures intended to cause maximum suffering to the victims, according to

human rights website Hands Odd Cain.

"For the execution, the condemned person is wrapped head to foot in white

shrouds and buried in a pit. A woman is buried up to her armpits, while a man is

buried up to his waist," the civil rights group explained on their website.

"A truckload of rocks is brought to the site and court-appointed officials, or

in some cases ordinary citizens approved by the authorities, carry out the

stoning. Article 104 of the Penal Code states that 'the stones should not be too

large so that the person dies on being hit by one or two of them'," they reveal.

Quite right, kalabine.

Also, like all sexuality, Islamic Homosexuality is fun. It may even be more fun than Agnostic Homosexuality as you get to defy the teachings of a god. Islamic Homophobia, like all phobias, is rarely enjoyable and therefore "bad" (0 on the LRSUG).

Love
