Vatican Hiding Croatian War Criminals

Well, they have had plenty of practice at this, so they should be good at it by now...........

doesn't surprise me in the slightest

it wasn't that long ago that the dead pope john paul beatified Cardinal Stepinac who gave his blessing for the nazi puppet state of croatia in 1942 and called on catholics to pray for the well being of the fascist state and its leaders

here he is hanging out with ante pavelic the ustashe leader whose stated policy of kill a third, expel a third, convert a third, even had hitler telling him to tone things down a bit as he was giving fascism a bad name

i wouldn't be surprised if gotovina meets an untimely death in the near future, his evasion from capture has stimmied croatia's EU aspirations, however there's not a hope in hell of the USA allowing gotovina a stage to explain some of the facts behind operation storm that the USA backed and gotovina executed

i predict he'll he'll be "accidently" killed during a capture attempt, aided by US special forces

isnt it true that the new pope is politically inclined to the far right, or did I read it wrong and he dresses to the far right.

I think (though i could be wrong) this is actually the lazy 'the pope was in the Hitler youth as a youngster, he is therefore a Nazi now' that some people peddle. I am in no way trying to defend the pope, I just hate that line of critique....

Ratzinger was in the Hitler Youth because it was compulsory and very difficult to avoid but he was definitely no devout Nazi, he is rooted in his family's political and religious tradition of a deeply conservative (better reactionary) Bavarian Catholicism which was hostile to Prussian-German nationalism, his grand uncle was the politician and priest Georg Ratzinger (1844-1899) who combined Bavarian federalism and political catholicism with a anti-semitic and populist defense of Bavarian smallholders and artisans and a romantic anti-capitalism
