A large BNP (British National Party) meeting was held in a village just outside Halifax on Easter Sunday (27/03/05). The BNP leader, Nick Griffin was present at the meeting, and on the agenda was party strategy for the May elections, and also the demonstration coinciding with Nick Griffin answering his bail at Halifax police station on April 6th.At short notice, a mobilisation was organised to counter the meeting. Due to police presence on the day, the response to the meeting would have to be short and sweet. So thirty anti-fascists pulled up outside the meeting and within seconds were hurling half bricks and rocks at the BNP security, who ran inside the meeting hall. BNP members cars were smashed (most car insurance doesn't cover vandalism). Job done, and a quick getaway was made. No injuries, or arrests made.

Seems a bit of a empty action if you ask me.
If they was a bit of a fracas before hand,well they( bnp) need to take the rough with the smooth.But smashing a car then scapering seems a bit worthless.
Its like a

I live in keighley and that bisexual cyclops is standing here,but ive yet to see maruding bands of neo-nazis and rusterted anti-fascists battleing each other.So i think "keehley" youth will find other things to do.

Too many people (myself included) don't want to fact the prospect of a criminal record, much less a long stretch in prison (can't this kind of stuff get you locked up for decades?) for any considerable number of people to take up this.
There are also too many people who don't think this is the answer (I sit on the fence here) to fighting the BNP, and condemn the "violent thugs" who do this.

Like i said prevoisly,if the flash fash where giving it hard, then the antiflash have the right to throw pebbles at there cars.But just to do it then run,seems a bit infintile.

Tom you seem pretty paranoid about prison, not to mention regularly exaggerating potential penalties. Not having a go, and sure the people who did this could get sent down but not for that long - it'd be very hard to convict any individual of any particular act unless they admitted it.

Well yes, I am paranoid of prison, IMO I have too much to live for, and you can hardly get away if you wind up being bullied by your fellow inmates (or worse still, the screws).
Back to topic, and not having a go at ppl here, but, supposing you are conisdering getting involved in an a anarchist (or otherwise progressive) organisation, and a load of C18 thugs went and started hurling bricks at you meeting, would it:
(a) scare you off being involved in said group, and go back to a "normal" life, or
(b) anger you so much that you want to get even more involved in anarchism and the group that has just been attacked, because you know know what you are up against?
Well if I was in that scenario the answer would be (b), although I still personally will try may best to stay out of hospital or prison.

In the telagraph and argus( bradfords local paper) this gets a mention,the jist was lots of masked up man throwing bricks at a easter party in shelf halifax.With a women saying that a brick just missed a new born baby.
So like i said before lots of kudos to the hoods ,but more sympahty for the bnp.

sorry, reference to this action http://www.enrager.net/newswire/stories.php?story=05/01/15/9012545, and searchlight magazine, reporting it as the actions of charlton fans. my point was that anti-fascist actions have to be justifiable, in and of themselves, and not as publicity stunts, because often media reporting of the event will distort what happens.
