Oppose the cuts at Camden council! Meeting Thurs 8 Feb, 7pm
Quote:
Camden council is making £23m cuts in 2007-8 with more to follow. The cuts are unnecessary and will hit the poorest people in the borough. Among other things there will be:
- 350 job cuts
- 21% increase in cost of meals on wheels
- closing of childcare facilities
- ending of free meals in hostels
- over 5% increase in council rents

Camden has large cash reserves, and wastes millions on agency and restructuring consultancy fees. It also received one of the biggest increases in central government funding of any London borough. Meanwhile of course the government is committing £26billion to Trident nuclear missiles and £12bn on ID cards.

7-9pm Thursday 8th February 2007
Small Hall, Friends Meeting House, Euston Road (Opposite Euston Station)
