Back button stuff

Previously if you pressed the back button, the page would refresh - this meant that if you were writing a post, pressed back then forward again, you'd lose the post.

I've found what does this, and switched it off. I have no idea if this will mess something else up, so please let me know if anything weird happens, but now you shouldn't lose posts when you're in the middle of them, and pressing the back button will just show a normal cached page like other websites.

Note that if you log in, then go back a few pages, it'll look like you're logged out, obviously. Press refresh to update the page.

Fucking amazing! It works. That's brilliant Catch.

Everyone please note though: I would still urge you to make sure you do regular copy's if you are writing long original posts which you don't want to risk losing when you hit Post Comment. Or write long posts in Notepad and then copy them in.

Yes people, listen to rkn, nothing's fool-proof.

It's also the sort of thing we'll forget to re-fix when we upgrade, so let us know if you spot any weirdness.

yeah a bit.

drupal fixed it in version after next, will probably get backported to 5.x/5.2 so we might not have to keep messing with it ourselves.

Catch

Yeah i noticed this - fucking brilliant!!! lately i have had a fair few posts and pms lost because when i have pressed submit i have had a long wait, then got that awful page saying the page cannot be found and when i have pressed backspace my work has gone!! I am used to this happening once in a while but it has been frequent lately so was just about to mention this but today this feature worked and i re-submitted and it was fine and no work lost and the submit worked 2nd time!! cool I don't really know anything about this feature called notepad but can try just opening a page in Word then doing a c and p into this box thing...that should work??? Just in case as rkn says..

Notepad is a more basic programme than word. In Start > Accessories > Notepad.

Before if that happened you didn't have to lose the messages because you could press refresh instead of back, this would have re-sent your post or PM.

it wasn't there before. So hopefully it's fine. No idea though.

Explanations of it are here: starting 14.9 http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec14.html

It's the pragma bit, just another no-cache thing I think.
