ban revol permanently petition

Revol should be banned parmanently. He contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion here and I know half a dozen serious people personally who have stopped posting here as a result of his arrogant self-congratulatory wank. He prevents me from posting as half the time, given the way he actively derails threads, I simply cannot be arsed to post. I know others feel likewise. I also don't know whu the moderators allow him room to fuck with things quite so much. He clearly has no rank or station that entitles him to more space for his views than others - why is he given this space? Surely at 8 1/2 thousand posts he has finally said enough.
This thread should be considered a petition. All those in favour of the above motion to permanently ban Revol from making another post please sign up below. If Revol writes on this thread and the moderators don't stop it please do the thread a courtesy ignore him. He's had more than enough airtime already now.

I'm no revol fan, and I am very sympathetic to the notion that someone who's being a major asshole should be wiped out of existence (pigs get it out of me quite often), but I think it's taking things too far. Forum policy doesn't force anyone to respond to revol, if you don't like what he's saying, just move on to the next message. If that's not good enough, I think a technological solution is in order: introducing an "ignore" function to the settings, allowing you to list users you just don't want to see in the forums. Works well enough on IRC.

In that context, if you take my position, and a lot of people do, then Revol should have been banned a long time ago, or at least only be allowed to post on libcommunity. The suggestion from comrade 'treeofjudas' to develop some kind of kill file is a good one, altho I think I raised it in the past to be told it wasn't practicable. And for your information comrade I'm not doing this because Revol annoys me - lots of posters do that, the ICC for example, but I still welcome their posts here because they at least contribute something; the point here is that Revol contributes nothing and is always disruptive and egotistical and the fact that he has been tolerated this long just simply has to change.

I agree but surely it goes back to the point I made that this web forum isn't run by its members so situations like this arise. Revol has probably alienated dozens of posters and possibly alot more. He is the stereotypical "know-it-all" of that people associate and are scarred by within the anarchist movement. We may disagree with each other on alot of political issues but I am happy to discuss stuff, less so on Libcom, as it has again degenerated into a flaming forum. I would also say that 90% of anarchist and class-struggle militants would run a mile if they see this site (most haven't btw).

One issue was with class war leaving these boards. I have alot of respect for class war both politically and knowing them socially. The way they were treated by some of the moderators was out of order IMO.

Well I think it's good that raw says he will raise his game. It shouldn't be contingent on the actions of others tho raw.
I do agree it was a shame to lose those in Class War tho, and they did come in for particularly harsh criticism, altho I don't think there was particularly a great deal that was attributable to the admin crew here, maybe Jack to some extent, but largely the boot seemed to be coming from other directions, particularly Revol. I hope that someday they will return, but we mustn't lose sight of the fact that we are trying to attract the whole of the world movement.

Oh please, don't give us that poor persecuted Class War crap, it's bad enough when they try it on.
A few people made fun of their stickers, one of their actions met some criticism and they threw a paddy and fucked off. Which seems pretty hypocritical on their part, looking at some of the ridicule they've directed at other anarchists, not only online, but in their publications. If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

I've been relatively well behaved on the forums at the moment, I mean any of my disagreements with you have been political (or that one telling you to stop playing the more militant than thou card). Infact it has been you and Joe Black that have been resorting to personal criticisms, saying i'm nothing more than a big moouth, know it all, and then whinging that i'm not some super activist, all because youse aren't able to cope with proper debate.
let's face it, the reason i've pissed you off the past 2 weeks is because i've actually been arsed to enter itno political arguments and aim my vitirol at positions rather than people.
p.s. I think the best way for this issue to be resolved is for me to dress my posts up like everyones elses on the board. lol

I hear you've also been very rude and agrressive in real life as well, although I wasn't at the bookfair. You're not banned from here, because you mostly engage constructively, and so does revol for the most part. People will also notice that none of us are fond of raw, who breaks more guidelines here than anyone else, including physical threats, lie-mongering, petty trolling and constant sniping, alongside no serious engagement whatsoever. He is not banned either, because he used to be at least about the most important person in the UK anarchist movement. Apart from gangster. Hard and fast guidelines don't work for internet bulletin boards, things have to be subjective, and we sometimes put up more with some people than with other due to their relative importance to the board "community".
This means that prominent or well-known anarcho-types, or very regular/long-term posters we are reluctant to kick off permanently. revol has had several temp bans, and raw has come close too.

where revol didn't say much bad, though he shouldn't have used the word "scrot [sic]" - but it was in response to dundee saying he should be banned, which was hardly constructive for the discussion. Dundee then called him a "nasty little tosser", which is also flaming.
We haven't had much to do board admin recently so things might have got a bit lax - the boards are also very busy at the moment. We will endeavour to rectify this as soon as possible.

No offence Dundee but I disagree as I think Revol contributes a lot - and always has done. He DOES blunder and bluster a lot esp. at the beginning of a thread if he doesn't like the sound of what is being discussed/proposed but he DOES always go on to expand, invite the person to respond - he continually wishes to engage in dialogue with people - his way of doing it may be a lil clumsy and his initial response visceral but that is just the beginning...unlike a few other posters (who have pissed me off far more before )he never - IME anyway - cuts anyone or any conversation off permanently just cos he is uncomfortable with the material - he will always come back to it - always - and seek to understand and be understood.
However this is all personal poster style taste.. and peeps will have their own perspectives so am not trying to impose mine..just explain it..
However..on a related subject.. even tho Octave (the troll deathmatch guy) DID make a valid contribution on, at least, the Marcuse thread, his comment directed at Power on the thread in Libcommunity Fri eve (the deathmatch thread) is just disgusting and is highly inappropriate.. wtf??
