pm weirdness

Rkn/Catch

Feel like i am being hounded by Hal (2001)..it is pretty creepy.. received 3 pms today but 2 were of my own pms (to different people) sent several days ago that were just returned with no message attached whatsoever and neither of these posters would do that!! Any ideas what is going on? It has never happened before and it was two different posters so this reduces the chance of it being a human error on the behalf of these posters (both gone weird on me/screwed up on the same day? Unlikely! )

Any ideas?

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Jef sent pms that got lost - one to me today - Skrae confirms he sent a pm to me that i haven't received today also and also that he didn't send mine back to me...so there is still weirdness afoot i am afraid... sad It hasn't happened to you catch cos Hal senses your superior IT knowledge...wink Soz about the title but it was late and i needed to amuse myself somehow... sad

Two lost pms sent to me and not received - two pms i sent ages ago bounced back to me automatically..yet another 2 pm's sent today got to me ok... confused

there was probably a problem with ones that were en route, either when catch was ugrading or when John. was buggering things up. To be honest after the carnage that was the hack these little things don't bother me any more.

hmm, we've got about 15mb of pms. I'd quite like to delete all them (after sufficient warning to save important ones - like maybe a month?). How's that sound to people? Dunno if it'd help but in general it might make things run smoother.

might have been to do with the access control weirdness yeah. It shouldn't affect it, but then it also shouldn't break the whole site.

also, you can turn that setting off in your profile so at least you won't get the message flash up all the time.

Sending myself a pm and then deleting it didn't change anything so I've turned the setting off as you suggested - thanks.

might be an idea to limit size of inbox, perhaps 40?

I'm still getting the "you have one new private message" thing on the top of every page, and it's a bit annoying. if you like, I'll help you purge the offending messages from your database. A simple query or two should be all you need.

It's alright, I know how to unset them, just didn't realise people still had them.

Anyone with real unread messages, they're going to look like you've read them (or at least you won't get a message). This bug has been fixed, so it should be just the once.
