Organise stuff

organise index, a few ideas:
- some intro to it with a picture - the organise toolbox graphic ideally
- then just links to the different book subsections, rather than all articles, ideally with a thumbnail and an abstract. maybe have to be done manually?
- a random organise article block maybe?
- latest organise forum discussions

yeah all articles was just to get rid of the nightmare from before without having page not found errors.

thumbnail/abstract - if we make sure it's set up right with cck then we might be able to generate these dynamically, it changes so infrequently that it might be quicker to hand code though. Any idea how you'd want that to look?

random organise article block - yeah good idea. With thumb/teaser?

and yeah forum discussions is good. Maybe sector/region networking as well?

er, i dunno just like 8-10 panels maybe, with thumb, title, teaser. maybe have random article on top right, also with thumb teaser?

yeah good thinking. links to users who live in x and work in x right?

Sounds good - maybe a link to a page or couple of sentences about networking then main sector/region links yeah.

hmmm was thinking, if it's a bastard to take out the "article" "introduction" text from org/thought articles placed into book outlines, could we have a new category called "libcom books" or something which is just free-tagging but only for thought/org content types. then we just type in names for sections like "workplace organising" etc.? freetagging can have a hierarchy too right?

or maybe it'd be easier to fix the content types as are. this gonna be possible?

Go to admin >> content >> content types >> organise >> display fields - then you can take off the text from those content types. Very easy now, didn't used to be.

oh, org content type needs image resizing set to 250x250 as well (though actually that's pretty small... i'll get used to it i guess...).

how can i go that? needed for thought too, and maybe library?

image resizing is in imagecache settings for the actual rules, then admin >> content types >> edit >> manage fields for the display options.

ok tried things - you can see it in panels admin

reckon we'll have to make a manual index for the sections - can stick custom content in a panel so it's easy to add a random block and forum feed etc.

not sure what text would be good in this so left out for now. Maybe this could go in sidebar though?

Done this as custom content in the panel. Any more? general organising? prisons?
also workplace organising block should include strike and on-the-job action tags. community organising should include occupations... demonstrations should include protests, personal - maybe claimants/unpaid and housing etc. etc.

going to put in now.

done.

I reckon what we need next is a couple of things:

1. a bit about the regional forums - maybe next to organise forum discussions or commuity organising?

2. sectors and regional profile networking - just links to the ones that have got some people in.

Anyone got time to write those two up then I'll stick it in.

cool random block looks bit odd with the same intro and header as front page though, though i get it will be annoying to change. can leave for now anyway.

ok that's loads. Will get to at some point - or anyone who has time can just edit them straight into the panel copying the format of the other ones.

Figure when we change the front page, this block will only be used in organise index, then we can change the header.

though the graphics overlap the headers below on ones with short teasers on a widescreen 1280x800 display

Yeah I haven't worked out how to clear the float yet on those.

Easiest way is to make the teasers longer - so get typing wink
