Problems accessing 'The period, 1924-1967'

If anyone is having problems viewing this thread can they post here please? I know Alf is having problems.

1. Are you getting any error messages? Or just a blank screen?
2. Have you tried viewing the thread whilst being logged out of your account?
3. Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox?
4. When did the problem start? (Alf i notice you posted there last on Wednesday 6pm).

I had a problem where my last post looked bizarrely incorporated into the previous post. It's fixed now, though.

Could someone do something about that ridiculously long link on the Memes thread wreaking havoc with viewing? Just enclose it in "]The Meme Machine" or something.

treeofjudas; i think that was a quote that wasn't properly closed with a (/quote) - where () = [] - it's a bug that messes up the posts like that. an admin probably fixed it (might have been me)

Hi, rkn; to answer your questions:

1. The screen goes blank except for the libcom bar at the top, freezes, and then I get told that 'this programme isn't responding'
2. it's the same whether or not I'm logged in
3. I'm using Internet explorer
4. during the course of Wednesday evening, but I can't remember the exact time I first encountered it.

Lurch may have been the one who e-mailed: I sent a PM to Catch who referred me to rkn.

Good luck!

Seems to be working fine for me ... I suspect it was JosephK's awful attempt at humour that destroyed the thread wink

I am sticking to the theory of a curse by Revol

Alf, if Revol's curses actually worked we would be covered in sores, boils and cankers and waiting for a visit by Eliphaz, Bildad and Zohar wink

JosephK ... that joke about "camp proletarians" was a clear indication of the remorseless decline of culture symptomatic of a decadent society. Just try telling a joke like that in the 19th century!

to be fair, all jokes pale in comparison to decadence theory.

I have a feeling it might be something to do with the number of comments displayed per page and browser behaviour/memory usage.

Especially as the site has been running a bit slowly lately it could be timeouts.

Im going to lessen number of posts per page. Let me know if this helps.

Zohar? The mystical book? Apparently my great-grandfather was a keen scholar of the Kabbalah. My grandfather, on arriving from the Ukraine, after doing various menial jobs, set himself up with a lino shop in the east end. He tried using his father to look after the shop, but the old man used to send customers away so his reading wouldn't be interrupted. I have clearly inherited his business acumen.

Anyway, rkn, you have done the trick, whether it was Revol's curse or Joseph's joke or something to do with computers. Thanks for that.

Yeah not sure if its to do with lessening comments per page or just because its decided to work as it has done with other ppl in the past.

Catch - any ideas when u have a moment?
