looks pixellated - is it messed up?
i think you just rename it with .ico at the end
Yeah I don't know how to make the different layers
*shrugs*
You reckon you can do this then (assuming you have/can get it)?
I realise this thread is 2 years old now but I came via the 'More like this' thing from the twitter blog entry, anyway I was on a roll so made a multi-layered favicon
hmmm, might only be working in chrome (?)
That's with compression turned on, the uncompressed version worked in firefox but the file was >100k..
I'll take another look at it later.
Thanks for this. Would smush or something similar help get the size down?
I made a version where the 16x16 image is uncompressed but the others are. This means that firefox will be able to load the small icon and the file size is only a tiny bit larger.
Bit of a work around but it seems to be ok, should probably test it with whatever programs use the larger versions.
Thanks for this. Would smush or something similar help get the size down?
No problem
Smush doesn't seem to work with icons..
The favico has now disappeared/ gone invisible, in firefox 3.0.16, at least.
yes, that has happened with mine as while
I put the wrong one up
Should be alright now though. Thanks Joe!
I think the first version is still up catch (don't think it's just caching). Maybe you didn't rename the second one? The one that works is 8787 bytes!

hmm. I used it for the firefox plugin but don't remember actually changing anything. Might have got messed up in the process though
Either way I was reading you can have .ico with different layers now - so it looks better in search box, favourites and elsewhere. Can make an SVG with inkscape then convert to .ico - I dunno how yet though.
