A lot of major fixes are going into this module at the moment, but they won't be usable for at least a couple of months.
However, I did a minor upgrade and it works better than it ever did before (which isn't saying that much).
There's not link to this anywhere yet, because it might well break again a few times before we can do anything really nice with it. But here it is for now:

Last time I tried it (months ago) the views integration was a bit flaky. But yeah we should be able to do filters and/or arguments on it. Will probably wait until the 3.0 version is available though. What I'd probably want to do is set up arguments, then hard code links to history/news etc., and maybe a search filter on it as well.

OK general thread for google maps stuff - it's all a bit broken at the moment, but the modules are being worked on so should be better later on. Hard to keep track of though.
Looks like some usable fixes to the google map module - means the node page won't break, stuff like that.
