Currently using IE7 on a computer with Windows Vista, for some reason the banner that usually appears at the bottom appears right near the top partially blocked by the forums themselves.

think this is a problem which we noticed early on, but can only be fixed with a redesign of the whole site. This is underway at the moment, but will take a while.
People can either upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, or use Firefox/chrome etc instead.
I think that's the only solution, so apologies for any inconvenience

Yeah, IE7 has some problems with CSS clear. I don't think it would be very difficult to fix, but if you're doing a redesign soon anyway, it might not be worth the trouble.
If you're using IE7, it might help to reload the page when this happens.

yes, reloading the page sometimes helps, and you can also hover over a link in the "bookmarked/e-mailed" box which should fix the one page you are looking at

looks like a CSS clear issue, IE is notoriously shit for CSS standards. but i have no clue what the workaround is. er, Mike Harmann?
