Saving Library Items

Hello,

Is it possible -- or would it be horrible time-consuming -- to build some mechanism in the library for saving texts in a less unwieldy format? Something like a "printable" version or perhaps PDF? I would like to be able to save some articles without all the visual schnick-schnack.

i'm not the techiest of the admins, but we're upgrading the site soon and this might well be possible. we're hoping to have a 'print theme' which will mean the articles automatically print out full-width, minus the side bar/top menu in a nice easy to read format. there may well be a way of adding 'print to pdf' functionality to this.

This module allows you to generate the following printer-friendly versions of any node:

* Web page printer-friendly version (at www.example.com/print/nid)
* PDF version (at www.example.com/printpdf/nid)
* Send by-email (at www.example.com/printmail/nid)

JoeBlack,

I'm confused, are those modules that can be built into libcom to allow the capabilities I am talking about, or is that a website that allows me to enter the URL of an existing libcom article in order that it can undergo the modifications I am talking about?

Angelus, they're modules the admins would have to install on the software that runs libcom (Drupal), which would then add those functions to the site. hopefully when catch sees this he'll let us know if we can add this to the next upgrade.

Upgrade is coming soon TM. Once we've done that, and smoothed out the rough edges, I'd like to add proper print.css and PDF generation. I've seen that module a long time ago, but at the time we didn't have good enough hosting to be able to run it, we do now, so it's just a case of checking the options and testing it thoroughly (once the rest of the site is running as it should be, which'll be weeks rather than days).
