Text not displaying in submitted article
I just submitted this library article:
http://libcom.org/library/modern-capitalism-revolution-paul-cardan
In the initial preview the first heading from the text was appearing in the introduction frame, so i added a tag at the start of the body to stop it popping up. Now I've submitted it but the body of the text is not displaying. It's all still there if I go to edit it; I removed the break tag but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Any ideas as to what's going on?
Also there are probably numerous tagging errors with italics bbcode and so on, but I won't be able fix them until I can actually see where they are.
Cheers
It appears that the "code" bbcode tags also aren't working, that should be a {!--break---} tag where that box is in the OP.
I had a go at fixing it but I couldn't figure out what was wrong, you'll have to wait for someone smarter to fix it
Dunno about smarter, but after 30 minutes trial and error I think I've tracked it down. This has been happening periodically with a whole bunch of articles so hopefully that's it for now.
In case I forget, it was the built in line break converter. That may or may not be to do with the fact there were hardly any paragraph breaks in the text
OK I ended up changing a bunch of input format stuff to fix this, but it's a little bit more straightforward now so hopefully less fragile. If anyone spots issues elsewhere, please say so. Fix one thing and other stuff breaks
Captain Soap - reckon you'll have time to put some full paragraph breaks in to that article?
Yeah sure catch, I'll have a go at that over the next couple of days.
Nice one mate. Thanks for submitting it. Sorry it didn't work properly!
Ok. I added lots of line breaks, but now i get a red box at the top of the screen saying "An illegal choice has been detected. Please contact the site administrator." whenever i click preview or submit. Strangely, the same message is displayed if I attempt to preview it without making any changes. No idea if the edited article will have been submitted successfully, but i've c+p'd it to a text file so that's no big deal.
Oh and also the HTML footnotes appear to have died.
They get displayed as regular text - the fn tags are made invisible but otherwise ignored. So even with line breaks it'll probably still read as gibberish due to footnotes masquerading as text rammed into the middle of sentences.
Hmm. OK try editing the article again and pasting what you've got in. Sounds a bit odd. I'll have a quick look at the article itself now to see what's going on with footnotes.
check the input maybe?
footnotes fixed - although you've got a stray italic bbcode tag in there.
resubmitted ought to fix the 'illegal choice' issue I hope.
Nope. Still getting the 'illegal choice' message, both when I try pasting in my edited copy, and when I try just inserting line breaks into the existing submission.
OK that's really weird. Could you send your copy to the e-mail account as a .txt maybe? admin at libcom dot org
Hey catch, just read your email and tried editting it directly, but once again i am getting the red 'illegal choice´ box when I attempt to submit it.
Hmm, well the original 'not displaying' issue I fixed, that should be alright from now on. But 'illegal choice' I'm not sure where that's coming from. I just checked and I can edit and save the article fine, so it might be a permissions issue (but that in itself seems pretty odd).
