on a serious side-note, I've had scripts timing out loading libcom. I suspect it's the news scroll, can't think what else it would be.

It's either the news scroll or the corners or both. The corners are going when we overhaul the theme, the scroll might do too. At the moment I want to concentrate on the upgrade (which we've started testing on but won't have anything visible for at least 2-3 months) rather than trying to fix stuff we'll end up getting rid of anyway..
