Are the new changs to postage rated going to affect Freedom? (I'm guessing they are) - has any investigation been done into alternatives or is Freedom just too small to qualify?

Martin

I was thinking about this the other day. In other countries (e.g. the US) they have special (lower) postage rates for printed materials, don't they? confused

This is going to affect every small-scale, mostly-subscription newspaper/magazine in the country, isn't it?

New postal charges here

Scroll down for second class rates. Looks like Freedom will be classed as a "large letter" (i.e. A4 size).

I think this only applies here for international post or if your circulation is over a certain size. I wondered if any of the other post companies might be cheaper?

Sorry haven't been checking this. Yes it does affect freedom, loks like we'll have to chop a bit of white space off the edges, fold it one more time and stuff it in the smaller size envelopes. It'll be a bit more expensive doing it that way but less so than if we simply took the extra hit.

This is just the excuse you've been looking for to switch Freedom to the Guardian-style Berliner format, isn't it, Saii? wink

Don't you mean the Beliner style Berliner format? tongue

Nah gave up on that idea when we looked at the costs/benefits etc. Maybe one for when we get in enough editorial/mailout/marketing people to start building up readership.
