There is yet another one of those STW things in March - a rally in Trafalgar Square ... I am actually gonna go to this one and wondered whether anyone else would be up for floggin some Freedoms (I'll also have some AF stuff)??

Be good to get back to doing some paper sales on demo's and save a few people from the SWP!!

well if people are up for it, suggest nearer the date we agree a meeting point and one person arranges to pick up some papers - be cool if there was an anti war story on the cover Saii and shout out will be good (BTW I will get back to you about that NHS story - have been a bit pushed with my PhD recently).

Battlescared - there should 4/5 EKAF members/supporters coming up who are happy to hand stuff out.

Has anything been organised for this?

Will there be a freedom stall? Or do I have to go to Freedom and pick up issues by myself?

Also, does anyone want to flog some Black Flags as well?

Hi - I'll be meeting up with comrades from Kent outside National Gallery around noon - if anyone's around - If I have time I'll try to pop into Freedom, although its a bit out of my way.

Given its a rally rather than a march - I think it would be really useful to have a Freedom stall - unless its pissing with rain.

You mention its a rally. I initially thought so as well. But I phoned up the Stop the War people today and they tell me there is a march from Trafalgar sq to Parliament sq - more a stroll down the road really! The said rally is to take place in the latter sq - so a chirpy call centre sounding person told me - quite funny really, she answered the phone "Stop the War, can I help you"

It was dull...handed out a copies of 'resistance'...didn't seem to be many anarchists there - given how long everyone was in the Square (2 hours) before the march headed off reckon could've flogged a few books and papers. obviously the whole STW demo/stuff is crap but think we need to be present and these things

I attempted to do an anarchist head count - going by those with red and black flags and others I know and those mixing with the flags etc. To be honest i'd give a generous 50! However, along with Resistance, Class War, Black Flag and Now or Never (Norwich) was on sale. How come no Freedom's, despite offers to sell them from non Freedom people?

So much for the stroll down the road - was bloody knackered by the time we got to parliament square and busting to go to the toilet (just thought I'd share that) - shot straight up Victoria Street and used first pub as relief, then had a pint and still managed to miss the crush on the tube home.

whether it was 50 or less shame we didn't coordinate our presence. frankly i am pretty sure freedom bookshop would have sold a lot more books from a table at the march today than they did from the shop. i don't think it would have been too hard selling copies of the paper either - we really do need to get our shit together

ah good man.

RPG thats a shame about bad coordination, that wasn't meant to happen... There were a few ppl who knew to meet up from dif groups.

London AF had a stall at beginning and end of demo and sold £80 of lit ( mostly cheap pamphlets) and shedloads of Resistance. RPG you need to coordinate with London AF next time!!!

And we saw the march go by at the end and counted 20 red and black flags. A bit more coordination all round next time, I thinkl!

With Freedom in London it's mainly a matter of walking in, picking a few copies of the latest up and walking out again, they're generally up in the office on the second floor in boxes. Elsewhere is a bit more tricky, but usually doable.

Essentially it needs one person to be a co-ordinator and other people to sort them out with phone numbers!

Some very fair points made I think.

1. We do need to coordinate better on demo's - sad to say like the SWP does - there were three of us up from Kent and other than a CWF comrade and a couple of balck and red flags in the distance we couldn't find see any other anarchists - up to us though to be better organised.
2. For those of us not in London (yet) it'll be good if a others did go into the bookshop and pick a bundle of papers up and then we arrange a where to meet.
3. I do think the Bookshop should have had a stall - you'd have sold loads.
4. EKAF and LondonAF mobile numbers now swapped!!!

Yeah I turned up expecting someone to have a stash of Freedom I could help sell and turns out I didnt see a copy in the whole two or so hours I was there. Disapointing really, and its a reflection of how weak we are when we cant even co-ordinate something this simple. I will ask next time another demo happens.

Is it just me, or does it not seem strange that EKAF and London AF (my geography isnt brilliant but does Kent not join on to London?) didnt liaise with each other(or even appear not even to know if either was at the demo) and seemingly didnt have each others mobile phone numbers? Do you even know each other, or are you autonomous cells who dont know anyone else apart from your immediate cell members? Very strange........

No not that strange really - new members, people who have moved recently and expecting to meet up at the AF stall but, for whatever reason we couldn't find it ... don't try to read too much into stuff often its the mundane ordinary things in life that explain what goes on cool

Point remains though - we all need to take responsibility to make things happen and get more organised at events like this.

My son was at the demo (he's not an anarchist) and saw quite a few anarchists as it happens

Apologies RPG, I was a little facetious on that point. Organisation on the day was dreadful. We got there at 11.30 and knew EKAF was meeting in front of the museum at around 12. Hung around there for ages and saw no one. We also heard that LAF were holding a stall, searched and searched for it but couldn't find it. In the end headed for the Class War cluster in front of the stage. However did link up with the LAF at the front of the march once it got moving. Also met up with the anarchist contingent from Norwich and some comrades from Leeds. Next time eh......

Maybe we did but the CW cluster were definitely a CW cluster cos they had a CW banner and I also had a brief chat with Mr. Bone who was with them.

Playinghob - its cool, we need to get more organised - people are interested in anarchist propaganda, whether we belong to a fed or not we need to link up and promote anarchism. BTW the CW person I met was deffo CW....here's to getting it right on the next demo.
