Das Kapital the Manga

You may or may not be aware but someone attempted to turn Karl Marx's Capital into a Manga. It's been officially released in English for a frankly ridiculous price. There's two volumes of it and it's well its interesting. It use a farm boy turned cheese industrialist to explain the economics.

I haven't actually read Capital (well a couple a bits) so I don't really know how well it translates but it does an all right job explaining some of the basic concepts and the story while incredibly blunt (the foreman is a giant and walks around with a club for example).

So anyone whose read Capital want to take a look at it and see how well it does? Potentially it could be a very good ice breaker for the real thing.

Volume one in CBZ files http://www.mediafire.com/download/i5hxc5388m6ta81/Karl_Marx-Capital_Vol._Icbz

Volume two http://www.mediafire.com/download/rq6b4drpiic9emb/Karl_Marx-Capital_Vol.II.cbz

If you can't read cbz files I recommend comical http://comical.sourceforge.net/

Cheers, this sold very well in Japan when it was first released. I will try to have a look in English, as I have been thinking for a while that it would be really good for it to be translated!

Yeah I believe it was done by the same group who did Mein Kampf, I had been looking on and off for a few years to see if any translation group would touch it but sadly macroeconomics wasn't as tempting as 18 rated comics about last years popular anime. The problem with this translation is that some of the dialogue is confusing and stilted.

I must confess that I've not actually read it, but I won't let a little thing like that deter me. So here goes nothing:

(I may have taken the title a teensy bit too literally, but I think I did a pretty good job of cramming Kropotkin's magnum opus into a four panel comic. Also, not sure why I went all medieval rather than manga, but, hey, artistic license and all that.)
