State Of The Mission:
It appears I have to be a secret communist, and go to three days of unpaid training, before starting paid work for a telemarketing company, which fundraises for nonprofits and various shitshows associated with the Democratic Party. Because they're extracting twelve hours of unpaid time for me I figure I have to work there for at least a month to make it worth it, remaining a secret communist while being bombarded with, and repeating, liberal propaganda. Notably, the political organizations contracting fundraising through this company, while paying us eight dollars an hour, argue that they want to raise minimum wage to twelve dollars an hour, and frequently deploy this as a selling point.
This is not the generic cultural liberalism of ordinary people who I often sympathize with, this is the liberalism of highly-organized politicians who steal people's ability to speak of their own conditions, by using the rhetoric of actual social conflicts and antagonisms to promote themselves in a spectacular pseudo-battle. Playing up income disparities, healthcare access, immigration status - all the things that people actually struggle with - to secure their place as gatekeepers while organizing the repression of all independent collective action from Oakland to Wisconsin, a dynamic that appears perhaps most insidiously in the form of gun-control.
FUCK YOU, ARM THE UNDERCLASS.
I gained this employment through one of my downstairs housemates who is also working there. She, in turn, got her job through another woman working there who is the partner of a man I partly blame for the loss of my last actually-okay job at a local burger place where my coworkers were nice to me and I got decent pay plus tips.
I am pretty sure I would rather just work for regular capitalists than do this creepy class-collaborationist shit, but I need to take what I can get right now. Plus, my housemate told me that they mostly let you pick your own (four-hour) shifts, it's hard to get fired, and sometimes you can get bumped up to ten or twelve dollars an hour.
Comrades:
If we reach Critical Peak Liberal, commence carpet bombing. Do not attempt airlift, do not attempt reconnaissance. I will accept my fate as part of the greater containment strategy.

armillaria,
Happy you got some work, also, you're not class-collaborating. Actually sounds like you've got the makings of some really good prole non-fiction.
We reached Critical Peak Liberal sometime ago. Unfortunately, rather than carpet bombing, the vote went for a meme campaign.
So far, its proved quite entertaining, though largely ineffective.
