The huge gap, or better stated outright opposition, between 'libertarianism' and libertarian or anarchist communism was exposed in a discussion meeting at the recent Bristol Anarchist bookfair when a well presented argument in favour of the latter by a member of the AF was counterposed to a hotch-potch of arguments by ANA on the back of some outdated Proudhonist model of a co-operative economy using one or other of the more recently popular digital currencies such as bitcoins, and supported by some basic and familiar pro-capitalist and anti-communist prejudices, right down to the 'human-nature'/ greedy man' argument against the communist principle of 'from each according to their ability - to each according to their need'. In the bookfair itself the 'positive money' campaigners were present with their own meeting slot putting forward an equally misguided analysis of the problems and solutions to capitalist economic crisis and working class poverty, (see http://antinational.org/en/bitcoin-finally-fair-money for a good fundamental critique of all this).
As it turned out the same ANA also turned up putting forward a case for a much more flexible approach by anarchists and anarchist groups to work with various religious people and organisations and to consider other ways of working 'with the state' including voting in capitalist elections - is there a connection between these ideas? not a good match with 'libertarianism' so maybe this individual is just very confused.
So that winge aside the bookfair was well organised and did present some other good material including at the local 'Hydra' bookshop and cafe.

Reading the title of this post I thought it referred to this:
‘The U.K. will introduce a new 1-pound coin in 2017 as part of a crackdown on counterfeiters, after the current model spawned millions of fakes. The new pound, modelled on the 12-sided pre-decimal 3-penny piece introduced in 1937 and removed from circulation in 1971, will have features making it one of the most secure coins in the world…’
However, on reflection, I’m sure no one would attempt to pass off the duds at an anarchist book fair.
