People in Oxford

Hi,

I'm going to move to Oxford next month as I'll be working there for at least a couple of months and wanted to know if anyone is up for grabbing a beer while I'm there?

Also, does anyone know of any good works on the history of Oxford that isn't just about the Colleges and Kings and whatnot? Doesn't need to be a People's History necessarily, but one that deals with social movements and upheavals and that sort of stuff.

There's some radical stuff up there. There's a radical printer and a few other things.
The Oxford Radical Forum is, I think, the continuation of the Oxford Autonomous Forum which was promising but never quite got off the ground while I was there, the ORF organised a conference this year.
A lot of stuff is based around the OARC http://theoarc.org.uk/about.php

Checked out their website, seems very good. Most definitely will try and contact them smile

Thanks smile

I actually went to the Solfed website to see what locals were mentioned, but didn't think there was any right near Oxford since I didn't really associate "Thames Valley" with it (not very familiar with UK geography)

Well...I don't know if there's enough room for the both of us, maybe if he takes up being called Tommy.

In all seriousness, thank you, sending a PM now.

I hadn't realised that Thames Valley SolFed was active, but I was busier trying to keep the support component of my ESA when I looked.

I'll try to get in touch.
