I think it's just good-old sadism...

But idiots can be very dangerous, and these are fairly influential ones, at least in terms of dominant propaganda and connections: they're worth not just being talked about but attacking, imo (though I'm writing this from a distance of several hundreds of miles from the UK).

Seems the 'silent majority' is really fucking silent. Less than 200 people have showed up apparently.

Though I agree in one respect Samotnaf, i think its best we wait and see how they materialize. Groups can seem massive on facebook or whatever, but when it comes to bums on seats (or feet on the roads), we can better gage our opinion. By the turn out today, I have to say I really don't care for them too much.

Matthew Sinclair, director of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: "want to give a voice to people who represent quite a heavy majority who think spending cuts are right and necessary."

If so then thankfully all but a few hundred drowned on the way over.

More seriously, as far as I can tell, the demographics of this lot and the tea party are massively dissimilar. And the politics don't have the same populist appeal either. There's little or no social conservatism on the agenda for this lot, just economic neo-liberalism, albeit in a fairly populist guise.
