I have been receiving these unsolicited emails. Anyone know who this is? An IWW offshoot? Something else?

Wikileaks & the Spanish stalinists

If you are interested, the labor affairs tag of the U.S. State
Department cables is "ELAB".  If you go to a Wikileaks site, and
notice they are organized into tags (basically subject headings), then
find the "ELAB" tag, this tag is for cables sent to the labor affairs
desk.  It includes interesting information about communications with
trade unions.

Here is an example from Spain.  It shows how the CCOO, the Comisiones
Obreras, the old Stalinist labor federation in Spain, has been acting
as an informant to the U.S. State Department.

Police undercover sabotage of anarchist groups!

Infilitrating anarchist, eco-activist, and anti-racist groups isn't
about controlling terrorism; it's about controlling non-party

Direct Action in the ice and snow!

They say we have been experiencing repeated "polar vortices." It is a
very cold and severe winter in Minnesota. Indeed, they say we are
having a difficult Siberian winter!

St. Louis County in Minnesota is the largest county in the U.S.
outside of the state of Texas. St. Louis County is responsible for
plowing the snow and ice from 3,000 miles of county roads and
highways, plus some township roads and even private roads and
driveways.

The teamsters union local 320 represents (but represents poorly) about
170 employees in the county’s Public Works Department who are part of
the road and bridge crew and who, among other duties, maintain and
operate county snowplows and graders during winter months. The
contract for these workers expired on December 31, 2009.

When mediation failed to reach a resolution, union members voted on
January 6th, 2011 to authorize a strike.

Last Saturday, however, roughly three-fourths of the drivers in the
county’s Iron Range district did not show up when called, in what was
apparently an unauthorized action by rank-and-file members.

Yesterday the County settled ... providing a contract for the snowplow drivers!

(There are two "ex"-Anarchists on the St. Louis County Board of
Commissioners. Both are cold and unsympathetic to worker issues.)

No on-line presence cause they don't exist. Seamas cain pulls this thing up every so often. It's all pretend; an illusion; a phoney to fool folks into believing they are something other than a sick figment of one persons imagination.

The SAN is to anarchosyndicalism like that crazy Norweigian guy with 10 internationals (including the IWW and secretariat of IFA). Quite unfortunately, I think some people at some time believed that this is some sort of organization, in any case people have asked about them, but I think the matter is clear and anybody who asks can find out it is a virtual thing that sends out mail twice a year and that's all.

But about the US State Department leaks, the SAN apparently missed the much bigger bombshell. And that is that CIA-based labor operations targetted the CNT after Franco's death. And lo and behold, the name that figured in correspondence was no other than one of the main ones that led the split fraction that later became the CGT.

I have seen the CIA in action in Eastern European labor movements, so I sort of know their tactics, and can clearly see why they were active in Spain during the transformation. But I didn't know that this extended even to the CNT and, well, combined with the fact that they had infiltrators also from the Spanish secret police, these things are interesting. At some point it would be good to try to find out more about the CIA and if it played any larger role in the supporting the reformist sector.

Can you elaborate more on this? And provide links? In any case it's an old history of the CIA working with convenient leftists, goes back at least to the split in the French CGT in 1946.

I'll copy the email from SAN below. It's fairly innocuous n and of itself:

Whilst this point is totally in the realms of speculation, personally if i were the state, i'd seed operatives into both factions to turn what could have been a principled but comradely split into a series of nasty personal conflicts and shitty behaviour on both sides that could effectively destroy for many decades the capacity for the seperated factions to engage in open political debate about tactics and reduce it to a binary issue.

Also seeking evidence of CGT linking with the CIA.

At the time of the split in the Spanish CNT, there were many different accusations against the splitters. I have no way to account for the CIA claim or where to reference it.

What I can say with a certain amount of certainty, is the social democrats of the UGT received funds from many sources. And it would not suprise me if CIA money found its way into various
AFL-CIO and other international labor funding sources. The general position has always been that the AFL-CIO, the Socialist International, global communist parties, the ICFTU and WFTU and their global allies would do anything they could to help retard the growth of the CNT-AIT.

In 1977 the CNT was considered the most feared workers organization on the left. It had tens of thousands of members. It drew massive audiences to its open rallies. Lead strikes and was feared by the State and reformists.

The State and the reformist socialist and so-call communist unions did all they could to keep the CNT-AIT out financed and outmatched with functionaries and political support. There is no doubt that money flowed from the outside into the hands of anti-CNT forces. Not being properly sourced, I do not want to say anything about those who split from the CNT in this regard.
