What is the unemployment support in your state/system

From the discussion in "Is Basic Income a good step in a stage of revolutionary socialism?"
https://libcom.org/forums/theory/basic-income-good-step-stage-revolutionary-socialism-11052014?page=3

I would like to hear about what is the level of unemployment support in your country. Just to hear what kind of background you are coming from.

And in order to make it comparable from state to state and from price index to price index i thought the answer should be how many 1 liter of milk can you buy for your unemployment support?

Milk is pretty much a standardised commodity that can be bought almost everywhere, so i thought it would be reasonable to make the answer like that.

The unemployment support should be for a grown up person that has no kids to support and tax are not into consideration

Here i can get around 1566 liter of milk per month for the unemployment support.

It's not as reliable as I'd like let's just say.

Depends on the price of milk. Here in France unemployment support is about 63% of your salary. How long you get it depends on your employment history but I think it's capped at two years, but could be wrong.
You used to be able to claim a huge chunk of your benefits as a lump sum in exchange for signong away your rights and starting a small business, I'm not sure if it's still possible. I should have done that after my first contract...

So how much milk can you buy if you make the calculation for the average wage of basic uncraft labour?
And what happens after 2 years of unemployment?

IT depends what milk you buy. In France they mostly drink UHT and fresh milk is expensive.
If you drink UHT which I do not recommend then it's probably about 1200, but in the UK milk is better and cheaper but life is worse for the unemployed.
After two years you get whatever the minimum income benefits are.

Wow some countries actually use UHT as the main choice of milk

In the US you accrue unemployment benefits over time spent working and this has something to do with how long you can be on it.

I've been on it twice in my working life - once when hours got cut during the recession - I kept working part-time and got a check making up the difference. This was a 'job attached' claim - meaning that I didn't need to look for other work as my employer apparently said they'd keep me on until such time as they game me more hours.

The second time I was laid off completely and didn't have 'job attached' status. I had to submit a worksheet frequently detailing my job search activities. I believe all my benefits were factored into my total income come tax time.

Wow that sounds draconian. So if you are only supported for 3 years and then it takes 4 years for you to find a job you have to become homeless? Is that the reason people in USA join gangs and thus ends up in the jail system?

I believe all my benefits were factored into my total income come tax time.

What does this mean?

Well, more folks than just gang members end up in the prison system. I think alot of the gang-joining happens during one's prison time.

I was just saying that I had to pay some taxes on unemployment benefits.
