hey, just wondering - does anyone know of any online resources which might talk about the Anarchist history of the Phillipines? i've never seen anything really in-depth, though i vaguely recall hearing things in the past - i'd got the impression that some Anarchists were involved in the Filipino resistance to the Spanish, and that a number of Filipino Anarchists are actually considered to be national heroes in the Phillipines to this day... anyone know if this is true, or of any other information on this subject?

Under Three Flags by Benedict Anderson, is available on Google books. The wikipedia page on José Rizal has lots of pictures of monuments to him etc.

Here's one link http://www.anarkismo.net/article/955 on the topic. Noel Barcelona is working on "Anarkismo: is there truly Filipino anarchist theory & movement?" Perhaps more later.

Not long ago I attended a conference of a Filipino girl in an anarchist athenaeum in Barcelona, the anarchist movement is practically null in Phillipines, She speaks more of the repression suffered by dissidents of the regime. She put a documentary but I don't remember the documentary name.

the filipino left is pretty split at this point. the splits happened pretty regularly after tinimen sq. and within the KMU trade union http://www.kilusangmayouno.org/
