Article in the El Mundo Sunday supplement (in Spanish) about Antonio García Barón, the last surviving member of the Durruti column.

I don't speak Spanish, but I don't think this is accurate unless they mean native Spanish. George Sossenko fought with the Durutti Column (under the name georges jorat) for a year, mostly in Aragon, and is supposedly the last surviving international veteran. He spoke in my hometown a couple weeks ago.

Maybe the writer of the article has used a bit of journalistic license here - it's written as a human interest story rather than from any serious political or historical point of view. El Mundo is a fairly right wing daily and it's surprising to see the article there at all - accuracy might be too much to expect.

i recall reading an american article a few years ago which was about the death of the "last Anarchist." sounds a lot like that - i cant read the article, but perhaps claiming him to be the last member of the Durruti Column is a bit of wishful thinking on the part of the article-writer, much like the US article i read about the supposedly "last" Anarchist, no?
