libcom Wobblies

Introductions

This is a forum for those of a Libcom persuasion who are also members of the IWW. You're also welcome to post here if you have queries about the IWW or want to network with people in your area.

Needless to say, this forum doesn't represent the IWW as a whole, and so please do not take people's opinions to be any sort of 'official' line.

Joining the IWW in Britain

Hi, I sent off an application form and a checque for dues to the Newcastle PO Box number. I've heard nothing back in 4 weeks. Is there a problem in BIROC in processing applications? I sent an e-mail to rocsec@iww.org.uk following this up and haven't heard anything back... How hard is it to join the IWW!?
Respect,
Dave

Are Anarchist Organizations Anti-Political Sects?

Does the IWW define what anti-political sects are? Does this include anarchist organizations? There seems to be a lot of crossover of membership.

London Wobs have any plans for Global Day of Action Against Starbucks?

On an extended visit in London from the States and wondering if any London Wobs had plans for the GDOAAS? I know it's short notice, but if there's anything going on, I'm quite interested in attending...

IWW and Referendums?

So what's with the Bay Area IWW is endorsing referendums? Is it true? If so, is the branch campaigning for it? The ESPU is advertising IWW trainings, etc.

Which TUC union?

Thinking of dual carding. I work in a book wholesalers / distributors. So its Unite or GMB or another? Which does the best training for reps?

The reading group idea will never die...

This one would be mostly for the Americans, but I've been wanting to read this forever and I thought it might be a good opportunity to get the forums at iww.org functioning now that the international site is being revamped...

Leicester adult education under attack... IWW organises resistance

Leicester Adult Education College on Wellington Street is under serious attack. It's a sorry tale of privatisation and the destruction of adult education by stealth. Staff have been treated incredibly badly by management, with no consultation or even basic information, and with some staff being told to pack up and move at a moment's notice. Jobs are under threat.

IWW membership

Fellow workers,

I am new to Libcom. I am not a member of the IWW. I would however like to ask a question about the IWW and figured this would be the best place to do so.
