In this case though I'm beginning to feel like evolving away from the site. They are entitled to do with it as they wish but I'm interested in it as an anarchist discussion board rather than a socialist one. If I want to argue with the SWP I use indymedia.ie which at least has around 20,000 viewers a day.

I think that's not very fair. I know there are some people on here who are ace, and very interesting who don't call themselves anarchists; but this site isn't a trot-fest nor will it ever be.

How about "politics" or "society" or "social change" or something?

Surely the following would please everyone:

"Everything you ever wanted to know about class struggle"

Maybe so, but at least it's not an -ism.

(Going for the nested quotes record here).

It's quite fair in the context of using something as 'Green Anarchism' as an illustration of why the word anarchism might be a problem.

Socialism to most people is either something to do with the USSR, something to do with the Labour Party or something to do with students shouting outside Tescos on a Saturday morning. As an evolution its one of those 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' ones which is hilarous if your main justification is a PR one.

Ideological labels are useful if they clarify things. Just using 'socialism' confuses things if you ask me.

I have noticed on this site personal slagging matches have taken over,

class politics have become a second thing. what? do people want, people who behave like morans or people with class political intelligence.

let the morans with their childish antics stay on and those of us with politicl class intelligence move on.

paul marsh might look like everyones uncle/ ice cream man but he's hit a six on this one.

everything you wanted to know about class struggle is perfect.

as for john saying it will confuse the newbies, what are you on crack? if someone is interested in "socialism" you'd like to fucking think they might understand a wee bit about class struggle! If they don't or are put off by it's hardly a great lose.

ffs it's hardly like "everything you wanted to know about the self valorisation of the proletariat". (though that would be cool if only for posing value).

not only is 'class struggle' a better description it doesnt have the baggage of 'socialism', plus it sounds sexier.

good to see everyone has an opinion on a subject of such irrefutable importance wink

Class struggle is excellent, obviously.

But given that it says "libertarian communist community & organising resource for Britain" at the top of the page, "Everything you ever wanted to know about libertarian communism" would be reasonable enough. Newbies probably wouldn't be here if they didn't have at least some interest in libertarian communism.
