World bank meet in dublin.
Just curious if there was any news or opinions about the World Bank meets in Malahide in Dublin, 12/13 November yet?
Tacks, I think you'd accept that WSM has a good record of recognising what is and isnt worth engaging, this isnt. It's not even the world bank, it's like one guy from the world bank meeting with some people from the IDA. It's literally around the corner from my house in the suburbs, not a chance I'd cross the road for it. Even most of the summitistas know it's a load of balls.
do we even have summitistas?
Nah, they've all moved to cork or brighton.
There should be some NGO march in the city centre that I'm sure there'll be some presence on. Nothing major afaik.
Don't worry, I heard he's leaving the mainland and coming back to the island this weekend.
and i thought your scottish section was a fantasist...
There is some class of Grassroots Dissent street party being organised. See here:

At 12pm on a work day. Not trying to wreck shit but not a chance of anyone showing up.

I'm the vanguard dude. I mean, I didn't meet up with you, yeh?
This was noted, indeed
You going to fly over with your ninja costume tacks? Apparently some WSM members do think this is a good idea.
I FAIL
ha ha ha
stfu.
Was anyone on her at this? From looking at the indymedia coverage it looks like it's not even worth commenting on.

OMFG!!!11

isn't that quentin tarantino serving vegan food?!
oh no wait, the unpixelated verson shows it isn't.
Sorry, false alarm.
Jack White, quote function isn't working for me. When I said "From looking at the indymedia coverage it looks like it's not even worth commenting on."
I didn't mean it in the typical cynical bitchy libcom type way. I actually meant it in as non chalant neutral as possible sort of way. More of a shrug of the shoulders expressionless sort of thing. Honestly. It just looks like it was a complete non event.
Everything doesn't have to be a riot or big to be worthwhile you know.
For a Monday lunchtime protest it seems to have been quite good, 60 odd people and a chance to push opposition to capitalism to someone other than the online group of people who all agree with you anyway. Being stupid about it is only going to alienate you from people you might want to work with in the future.

I don't think anyone wants a riot but dreadlocked activists handing out food and blasting a sound system in the suburbs, while everyone is in work, is kind of pointless. There are at least two wsm members in that area who distribute our paper at the shopping centre, without wanting to be scolded again I have to say that this is not in my opinion going to help further our ideas in this community or anywhere really. Are they asking the world bank to abolish capitalism?
60 people is a lot for a monday though.
Was anyone on her at this?
Rumour has it you were frantically trying to organise a last minute pink bloc.
the rumours are true. they would have stormed the hotel armed only with peer reviewed science and the overpowering stench of handmade soap products. but, alas, it was not to be.
Yeah I was imagining some sort of banksy image with instead of flowers - peer reviewed science and handmade soap. (is that nathan barley enough?)
Look, 60 ppl is a good turn out but I reserve my right to be indifferent.
I probably would have gone too, but it was monday at 12 ffs and I had an exam as well. I look at the report and my initial resonsense is nothing. It's "and?", it says nothing. This is not an attempt to be blasé and cool or that it wasn't "worthwhile", it's just ( ). It's how I felt upon seeing the report, I wouldn't even say it's informed by my political beliefs.

I've no idea but i think if people do absolutely zero in an effort to avoid summit hopping stereotypes its a bit of an own goal; do summat, its a great platform for publicity
