Locks glued at four Milwaukee Starbucks

Barista Liberation Front, 05.07.2008 15:18

On July 5th, the global day of action against Starbucks, four Milwaukee locations found the locks on their doors glued shut. The locks of the Starbucks stores at East Pointe, Brady Street, Shorewood, and Downer Avenue were hit. The stores were closed during the ever critical morning rush.

600 down. 6,000 to go.

no no no sad

see thats the easy part. Mate if the CNT and the IWW *wanted* you to do that, don't you think they could it themselves? We aren't at that stage. I'd want to discuss this with the rest of my branch but i am 99% sure this kind of thing would be rejected out of hand for this issue.

ffs sad

police apprehended the saboteurs but by a series of flips and dazzling vaults utilizing the urban climbing-frame they were able to get away.

So doesn't this mean that a lot of workers weren't able to make any money for the day? I'll bet they didn't even get to take a shift off but instead had to wait outside, hoping to get whatever hours they could for that day!

I really hope no wobs had anything to do with this....

Did it mean that the baristas still get paid? Did it have the support of the workers? etc are indeed the right questions to ask (and i suspect in this case it is probaly NO, but it would foolish of the workers to openly support such actions, so this is difficult to assess, the style of wording suggests not) but this form of action does have its place, but needs to be within the right context. I know the posters in this thread know this, but i think when replying to posts like these it is important to explain why it bad action, but also to mention when sabotage is useful. yes i notice both Tacks and Antieverything did at least address the issue. sabatage in the workplace
