More Wobs post here than on the forums on iww.org, that's fer sure.
why does this forum exist? what do people want out of it?
To the original question:
I like this forum cause it has sensible wobblies in it and has been a source of support and materails (trainings, booklets etc). I think if it wasn't for this forum (and excellent folk here, you know who you are...) I probably would have given up the IWW in disgust by now.
According to the website report at GA a major overhaul of the iww.org website is planned. I was thinking perhaps we might all try going en-masse to those forums, especially if they can be made member-only (those of us who are memebrs here) and try to stir stuff up. I would love love love if others in the union had access to the stuff I'm found here.
And I don't know if a mod is a bad idea. I also don't know that it's a good idea. And I don't know who I would vote for.
(shotgun not me)
i like this forum because when i meet people in the flesh (as it were, matron) we get to have witty conversations about having a libcom caucus at general assembly (you know who you are *cough!* nate *cough!*) or have fun dissing other libcommers out of their earshot

Yeah I like the combo of wobs and lib-commies. I think the signal-to-noise ratio would be better if we took this forum to an IWW only site, but I would miss the constructive comments and political criticism offered by non-wobs. I wouldn't miss the noise, though. Ftony, sorry we didn't get to hang out more at GA, but great to meet you.
I think that Gwen's comment captures it best so far. One thing I really appreciate about this forum that I don't think we'd get people who are friendly to but critical of the IWW to debate with. I like that because it expands the conversation in a way that an IWW only site wouldn't. I also like the mix of various degrees of left communism, anarchism, etc. one finds among the IWW folk on the site. Also very informative.
I would say that it'd be nice to try and have some sort of reading group come out of these discussions but I'd be lying if I said I had time right now to participate in one.
Sorry John, I should have said "by SOME non-wobs." I'd still be down for moving the libcom wob shit over to IWW.org cuz I find the the non-constructive comments and non-political criticism irritating as fuck. These days I haven't had time to really read these boards anyway though so I don't really feel too strongly about it.

A discussion started on the IWW UK Starbucks thread about what the Libcom Wobblies forum is for and what people want from it and whatnot. I don't have time to recopy the posts from there into this thread, but I can do so this coming weekend. Anyhow can we talk about this?
What do people think this forum is for? What do people want to get out of this forum?
