Abstinence education means drinking bleach will prevent HIV

A recent survey that found some Florida teens believe drinking a cap of bleach will prevent HIV and a shot of Mountain Dew will stop pregnancy has prompted lawmakers to push for an overhaul of sex education in the state.

The survey showed that Florida teens also believe that smoking marijuana will prevent a person from getting pregnant.
State lawmakers said the myths are spreading because of Florida's abstinence-only sex education, Local 6 reported.
They are proposing a bill that would require a more comprehensive approach, the report said.
It would still require teaching abstinence but students would also learn about condoms and other methods of birth control and disease prevention.
The bill just passed its first vote in a committee, Local 6 reported.

To be fair, American teenagers are extra stupid.

Get yourself into Sainsburys and have a sniff of some of their shampoos, especially the coconut one. Im convinced you could drink a bottle of that shit with no ill effects, it smells too nice.

Notch8 is right, we've done the shampoo/showergel isle smell-test a few times - coconut is by far the lovliest-smelling

Florida - this is the state where the only just started teaching evolution explicitly in their school science standards

let's face it, the whole of america is a bunch of dickheads
I'm going there in july though - hopefully they won't stupidify me

are you trying to tell us you're pregnant arf?

Shit I always wondered why they don't put shampoo in the food aisles.

3 April, 2008 - 12:18

Arf - I think you'll find Coconut Shampoo tastes 100% definitely like real coconuts

"It tasted just like real coconuts" - happy customer.

i bet it doesnt, i bet it tastes like soap. as if im the only person here who has a sneaky lick of good smelling soap "just in case".

My mum used to have some of those BodyShop strawberry soap things (y'know, shaped and smelled like strawberries) and all I wanted to do was eat them.

Also in that Lush place some of the stuff smelled pretty tasty.

PS - I have never eaten soap

3 April, 2008 - 12:42

Lush stuff doesn't taste nice, I have some moisturiser from there that smells like ice cream and I once tasted a tiny bit. It doesn't taste like ice cream, it tastes like wanting to brush your teeth five times to get the disgusting fucking taste out of your mouth.

3 April, 2008 - 12:50

My heart wants it to taste nice.

3 April, 2008 - 13:00

grace - see i knew it wasnt just me twisted

i wanted to send you a little heart of soap eating solidarity but there isnt one so you get a twisted grin instead.

last thing i tried was a chocolate bit out of a lush haagenbath. it was like eating peppermint essence, didnt really taste minty, just bitter, and gave me a weird numb feeling in my mouth so that i couldnt taste anything for ages afterwards.

I used to have a gluestick in primary school that smelt like grapes, I'd sniff it all day long in class. Didn't taste like grape though.

I bet you let your kids eat berries so they can find out which ones are poisonous

3 April, 2008 - 13:20

they prefer ice pops to berries

3 April, 2008 - 13:23

asher i remember scented erasers, but they were horrible, really sickly. scenting glue sticks is a very strange idea.
