to be honest all us straightedgers are pretty nazi
I think it's a natural progression from the loyalism, although I think it's a sad step that a desire to defend the church of England from papish plots ends so often in Nazism. It's fenians we hate, not jews!

Yeah I finally realised that upon seeing this picture:

Some cracka in a white hood murdering what can only be described as an ethnic of sorts. xhateedgex.
it's just unfortunate imagery
they changed the Ks to Xs and everything

tough guys eh?
Nazis? In a subculture of self-denial largely made up of skinheads?
Well I never!
I don't know any straightedge skinheads!

I thought that loyalists would tend to stick with the Church of England, what with the Queen being the head of it and all.

no honestly i wasn't being bitchy, i really was smiling when I read your posts. I suppouse it's cute seeing people trying to draw out stuff logically about a place that is fundamentally mental.
it's just unfortunate imagery
That's putting it very mildly. It's grotesque racism. I can assure you that if those fliers were put up in this neighborhood they would be torn down within hours, not by drug dealers, by anarchists.
i find it vaguely amusing that the site linked to in the OP links to a page defining "what is straight edge", which carries, a bit of the way down, an anti-nazi song lyric.
then again the straight edge scene has always been vaguely amusing

To be honest, a subculture that spawned out of punk is likely to receive a comment such as the above as praise. As much as it may chafe with our earnest political stances, being offensive is really fun. Plus I don't see anything wrong per se with the subversion of racist iconography. I mean, what does the poster really call for? Vigilanteism. It allows the poster's makers and its proponents to accuse its detractors of racism - since it's you who's introducing race by inducing (whether correctly or incorrectly - it's deliberately ambiguous) that the drug dealers it refers to aren't white.
I gotta say though, most straight edgers post-1991 are skinny, self-centred brats with superiority complexes who would far rather bask in their own purity than commit acts of violence. Time was, dear reader, that yours truly received a barrage of internet (and third hand via various mutual acquaintances) threats over a few unchecked comments I once made on a personal blog. At the next hardcore gig, the individuals concerned shouted a bit of abuse and threw a couple of punches within the context of the mosh (where you're expecting to get punched anyway) and left it at that. In the tally of weird subcultures who have vocalised a desire to physically injure me in relation to the completion of said act, they only rank just above the WOMBLES.

Well yeah, just for the record, in terms of anti-Nazism, the hardcore scene's actually pretty good. They really fucked the fash up over here and in the States.
One of these days someone needs to write a history of the anti-fascist punk wars of the 1980s and early 90s. It went largely unreported in the media with the exception of the occasional depoliticized mention of "gang fights". I suppose it's ongoing in some scenes but that was the period of my closest involvement as a supporter and advisor to younger comrades.
As to the ambiquity of the figure in the cartoon, it may come from being a native of deep south and having stood face to face against the ku klux klan in the streets, but when I see a figure in a white hood and what appears to be a robe engaged in an act of violence I think klan, and i don't think thats iconography that can be subverted or detourned or whatever other term might be used.
Ergh what fucking morons.
The whole idea that drug dealers are the problem smacks of ignorance of, well, the nature of capitalism.
Also, re:anti-fascist punk wars circa 1990s- that was my introduction to punk rock in North Carolina. Being on one side of a parking lot with a bunch of punks with baseball bats and smileys (however you spell that; chain with a lock on the end of it) and across from us a crew of racist skins or whatever. Interesting youth I had...

proof that conor is a nazi. I'm surprised he posted the link himself, it must be some kid of clever double bluff.
