I never bothered watching it, cos I really like the english one and thought it would be shit.
I'm halfway through season 2 now and to be honest it's still pretty shit.
Does it get any better?
I'm giving it a few more episodes.

It's fuckin appalling, I seen a couple of episodes. Most US comedy is along these kinda lines, we're just lucky in that we only get the small minority that isn't too bad.
Steve Carrell is about as funny as a parasite in your intestine.

I thought The Office was a bit overrated, the american version, like most remakes, just didn't seem to have grasped why the original was funny.

Did you watch it from the beginning Conor?
When I first watched it, I saw the first two episodes and thought it was just a shit copy of the English version. So then I didn't watch it again for years until a friend in the US made me. I didn't realise that after the first couple of episodes the plots diverged completely, albeit in maintaining some of the character dynamics of the UK version.
The US version is less dark and has more of a sitcom feel than the English one, but a few of the characters are more rounded and three-dimensional, and a lot of the jokes are funnier. And the "Dawn" character is actually likeable.
And creeds character is amazing!

Na I skipped the first series cos my bros said they were shit and the plots had nothing to do with the rest of it cos they were essentially puilots ripping off the english one.
So I started from beginning of series 2 and have nearly finished. It's watchable but still annoying as fuck in parts.

I would watch the first series to be honest, otherwise you won't really get exactly where the characters are coming from. It's only the first episode or two that are the same as the UK one.

The first couple of seasons are shitty, but the more recent stuff is mostly good. Just think of it as an entirely unrelated series, because after the first season, it IS more or less an unrelated series.

The main problem with the American Office is the lack of Gareth Keenan, who is probably the best character ever created (even giving someone like homer a run for his money, no doubt).

I've made my decision - the american Office is on a par with Friends, watchable, inoffensive, but not even close to being actually funny.
