We've decided to do some awards to celebrate another year of our heroic struggle.

Please make some more nominations, or suggest new categories.

We're asking you to nominate people/groups/publications/websites for the awards and will then be asking you all to vote for the winners, prizes may or may not be given out, depending on our generosity/whether or not we get too many Terry's chocolate oranges this xmas.

Thread of the year

Toffbusters (even though it started in 2004)

it's been a weak year for revol68, directed bitterness gave way to a general feeling of contempt and his posts suffered, young upstarts like redtwister shone through at the start before choking crucially at the end on a Hegelian banana skin.

next season will hopefully see a return to form but one gets the feeling that having seen off the primmos and assorted lifestylists the young boy wonder is feeling a drift, aimlessly sinking deeper into a Death cab for Cutie soundtracked abyss.

I think that outburst's definitely going to hurt his chances. He could've been a strong contender, though I feel it's gonna be a battle between Lazy Riser and oisleep. It could be so close, that bribes to the admins could be the decider...

Yeah he definitely needs a new mission. A one-man war on the WSM is a far cry from the destruction of mAce, nuclearcivvy, plastic_life, crack-fix-propaganda, blackcladmessenger, username and that bunch. And Jack's not as good a sidekick as Wayne. But I spose at least this time you're not the sidekick wink

We could have a best banning of the year category? Or best banned poster? Possible contenders could be:

- nuclearcivvy (who even set up this tribute site to us: http://www.soggymoggy.demon.co.uk/jwp/enrager.html)

- Mr lustbather/Dioclitianus

- Joe Hill/1 million other names

- that guy who said don't bother emailing him unless you wanted to kill cops in Newcastle to fuck shit up or something

Actually I see this thread went into this year. It was amazing! Probably my fave

Isn't veganism great, and why can't we all get along?

It's probably not the single most illogical argument of the last year, but given that he's a mate I really have to nominate the following from Nick for most illogical:

Nick Durie wrote:
Nuclear technology at the moment is very bad tech. We have all suffered from eating sheep that have been irradiated. They can still measure the effects on sheep from eating grass that was contaminated when chernobyl went POW!

I'm not saying that at the moment there is any case for using poorly understood and even more controlled nuclear technology, and I certainly don't see the pitiful 2 years worth of Uranium that technocrats hope will prove their salvation from peak oil as being something that should be utilized. I am even more against it being used under capitalism - whose economic system is too profit driven to even allow for the best - and yet nonetheless inadequite - safety checks that are available to humanity at present to be carried out.

I'm just philosophically opposed to saying that nuclear technology is always - even in the far, far future - something to be opposed and stamped out, which I think is quite a sensible measured opinion really. I think it's reactionary to always oppose nuclear technology in every hypothetical situation. And yes it is primitivist pseudo-relgious nonsense to assume that now that a dozen or so countries maintain bomb making facilities (nuclear power plants) we can ever hope to somehow 'uninvent' this technology. All that would happen in this hypothetical is that sometime 100 years later some bright spark physicist in our communist regime will just 'discover' the technology afresh and we'll have to uninvent it again. That kind of solution obviously necessitates some inner cadre who are somehow in the know. Bakunin's Red Association - some fucking polit-bureau. Is there something youse aren't telling me about this wonderful world of liberty?

Far better to just admit that it's there and enact legislation with a probity commensurable with this technology's use and potentially disasterous effects. Equally sensible research should continue into it.

And yes Button I think it would be worth retaining weaponry even if is never to be used. We cannot conceive of what threats may lie ahead for communist humanity, including imperialist aliens, which given the history of this planet, at least, there is far from an outside of such things existing.

Solidarity,

Nick

I'm currently watching all of the X-Files in order (I planned on just getting series 1 and 2, but their cliffhangers are eeeeevil), I'm half way through the 6th series, and while it is messing with my head a bit even I'm not this worried about alien invasion smile

Most illogical poor arguments - my nominations:

JoeBlack claiming that having forum tag-lines which included 'champagne socialist' would put off newcomers:

888 denouncing the evil authoritarian Spanish Anarchist collectives during the civil war who prevented any random nutter sequester (rare and militarily valuable) motor vehicles for a trip to the sea-side:

This is now officially my reason for being vegan

<prints small pile of copies to carry around>

Since I like furry animals and think they're cute, I'm not going to eat the wee fuckers. And to be consistent I'm not going to eat the ugly ones either. Nor am I going to eat eggs from battery chickens, and I'm certainly not going to eat free range eggs 'cos then I'd be a middle class wanker. And I never liked prawns. A Brucey bonus here is that in turning towards a plant based diet we economise on land use and reduce the amount of labour involved in food production. Perhaps if we save on labour time enough you lumpen carnivore fucks will actually manage to pick up a pot and learn to fucking cook instead of eating the shite yous normally do. Also, veganism is a pure fanny magnet because it makes girls think you're quite sensitive and caring.

Ah, but Lazlo, you are the exception that proves the rule.

And, in Jason's defence, he's merely pointed out that if Revol adopted some self-discipline and stopped treating these forums in the way of a particular sub-culture, the good things he said would be easier to spot and he might be taken more seriously by those outside the subculture.

At least I think that's what he's getting at. In his nice way.

and i fucking hate christmas angry although this worst christmas song lyric in the world sort of cheers me up:

*Whitey Christmas*

I'm dreaming of a whitey Christmas

Like ones they show on tv shows

'Cus I'm a minority

and all my life I've lived in poverty

So I guess I'll just sit here and dream.

just wanted to share that with my public grin

I feel at this stage it is necessary to post a picture of Brian McClair, I don't quite know why though, cos A) he doesn't even play now, and B) he wasn't a midfielder.

Erm, two words: Ronald and Inho. Then Pavel Nedved, then Frank Lampard. Possibly.
