I remember when we wrote alternate lyrics to that. And we were gonna try to get against me to sing it. Before they sold out. Goddamit.

They Might Be Giant Sell Outs, but they're still good live.

Excellent - the perfect end to my cd (it's on an anarchy theme).

2 October, 2006 - 19:54

Okay, I'm interested. Tell me more.

2 October, 2006 - 19:57

No more to tell - just songs I like with an anarchy theme.

2 October, 2006 - 19:58

You can't just reveal that much and not give us the full tracklisting!

2 October, 2006 - 20:01

Once it's done I'll stick up a tracklisting. You won't like most of the songs I do anyway though.

anarchy in the UK?

No Sex Pistols, they're shite. Quite a lot of folky stuff - I really like Riot Folk.

sad

Sorry LW. The Riot Folk people stayed at the social centre I lived in for a while, they were lovely.

2 October, 2006 - 21:18

Nah I have nothing against the Riot Folk given I have never heard of them!! tongue It was the anti-Pistols comment that saddened me!!! If I knew how to separate the quote bit I would but I don't know even though I have tried so this warrants another sad Hope you enjoy your compilation cool

Love

Sex Pistols just sound like dad music tbh. And not even very good dad music.

your dad must have a good taste in music, when i think "dad" music i think dire straits, eagles, fleetwood mac and other such stultifying bores! If my dad was a pistols fan things would be very different, in fact i probably wouldve grown up to be a card holding tory!

3 October, 2006 - 11:15

To be fair to my dad he does have reasonable taste in music. Other than Sex Pistols. It did mean I was the only kid at primary school whose favourite song was by the Cramps though sad Of course the first CD I ever bought myself was Take That 8)

Swap The Cramps for The Birthday Party and Take That for East 17, and that's me and my dad grin

(The Cramps are more my mum's thing. In fact just now I was trying to find a decent picture of Poison Ivy to show someone... odd)

3 October, 2006 - 11:29

god the pistols are shit. anarchy in the UK was like number 1 or 2 in some music channel "top 20 politically charged tracks" (the other one was U2 - bloody sunday roll eyes ). it's embarrassing...

3 October, 2006 - 11:30

My Dad has Bee Gees records. eek

And I agree that the Sex Pistols were shite.

3 October, 2006 - 11:43

the opening riff to pretty vacant is brilliant

3 October, 2006 - 11:50

Nah, the opening riff of New Noise is brilliant.

that's a problem :? :? me mate saw the cramps once, said before the second song was over people were breaking chairs over each others' heads and the singer was waving his dik. now, you just can't get any better than that.

And yet we've both turned out so well...

My fave song was always the Cramps' 'Bikini Girls with Machine Guns' - I thought girls with machine guns was just about the coolest thing ever when I was little :? Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' was also a favourite, but tbh I think that's only because it was number 111 on my dad's jukebox and I liked pressing the buttons.

3 October, 2006 - 12:54

grin

"So how come you're such a huge Joy Division fan?"

"I liked pressing buttons."

Ooh, I just googled jukeboxes and found a pic of the one my dad has:
