Benefit Gigs

Fucking, so my band (which is defintely awesome) are starting to get shows and whatnot and in February my homie and I officially launch our music promo company, "Dirt Kid Promotions. Anyway, I really would like our first show for dirt kid (and a few of my band's solo shows) to be a benefit gig for anti-ID stuff and I was wondering who has done them and any pointers or ideas that I have not thought of?

Er.. no ideas except to suggest contacting Tacks who is organising one atm...I am just posting here because it SUCKS to start a thread and then noone responds.. I blame John, (might as well! tongue: ) for moving you here from the far more fun libcommunity..

Let us know if/when you play London, Shoes and I will try to be there to support you.. oh yes! cool Good luck with all this..

Ideas for the gig... Promote it like a bastard! Anything I could suggest would be in this thread where I have posted my work in progress on organising benefit gigs:

The main thing is: get a popular local band, a low cost but popular band from further afield and a good local support or two.

Me and a fellow Norwich Anarchist run Righteous Promo

Please comment on what I've written so far. If you have any questions fire away!

hey shoes, Defy ID is a great cause - in fact it warrants a proper big event anyway, as much to raise awareness as anything else.

I don't really know about actual gigs, live music seems way tricky to me; all that kit to lug and fine tuning of PA - and it can still suck. But if you want to do a gig in london or sheffield, let me know - esp if u have mates who would also play, and especially especially if u have some mates who can DJ in between

Get in touch with the Lasthours zine too - they would be well up for organising a benefit for Defy and def have the knowledge. Last Hours editorial is kinda london based, but could easily act as a national network for u smile

be in touch anyway - and FFS post ur myspace we can have a lsten eh tongue
