Its that time of the year when I realise I have barely listened to any of the years musical output and those that I have I am probably too embarrassed to tell. Listings please.

I like most things played on 6music between about 7pm and 6am Monday to Sunday inclusive. Also some stuff on Radio3 (late junction type stuff mainly), and a few bits and bobs on Radio2 although they have very little decent new stuff really.

Most other music is shit.

I couldn't possibly choose a best album or band.

Some records I have enjoyed this year:

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - s/t
Mavado - Mr Brooks...A Better Tomorrow
DJ Magic - No Hats No Hoods Vol. 1
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion
Dam Funk - Toeachizown

As well as the dance music of Roska, Joy Orbison, Cooly G, 2-step revival, The Heatwave, Marcel Dettmann (and Berghain/Berlin techno more generally), Justin Martin, Omar S, seeing Diplo DJ, soca soundsystems at Carnival, and loads more I can't remember.

People I saw in 2009 that were good; boy 8 bit, Sinden, Whitest Boy Alive, Erol & Boys Noize, Skream (several times), Joy Orbison, DJ Godfather, Fake Blood.

Stuff that got old so fast; Girl Talk, Diplo, Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT (twice), Chromeo, Petits Pilous, Passion Pit,

Worth a listen; Junior Boys, Kode9, M83, Metronomy, Dada life.

Still looking forward to Switch and Jackbeats this month.

Everyone should bear in mind that in five years' time the "More like this" feature will bring this thread back from the dead and you'll go "Jesus, I thought that was good? :O" Then you'll go "fuck, it's five years in the future and I'm still reading libcom, the future is shit. :("

Oh hai, 2006. wink

That said, I seem to slipping further and further into the past with my music tastes. I swear I can remember one record I got excited about in 2009, I distinctly remember trying to remember it for moments like these... sad

Hang on, what year did "Dig Lazarus Dig" come out?

You live in the 3rd world. You are doing "travelling". Your only friend in london is an Irish poser.

Dammit, I'm so busted. Let's hope my one friend doesn't read this and decide against being my only friend.

Although poseur? From you?

Boys, bhoys... That Skream fella's mondoglasto remix of La Roux was mere dubstep nostalgia. Londontown's losers are all retro again; the top choice in the 'ditch is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijcuH6cT6dQ.

Afterparty sounds are pretty much anything from the Prince Far-I Cry Tuff "Whiteboys from the London Musicians Collective get wild" Dub Encounters series - if you know your onions, like... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_oxeRJdyHk

Me, I'm cynically waiting for you all to catch up so I can offload all my Berliner "Weg" tunes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAKOjhLyhho

Not much grabbed me this year, electro seems a little uninventive atm, i couldn;t really sit there and name some tracks that made the summer or anything, mind you i was skint most of it and didn;t go clubbing enough.
I like god help the girls album, but it wasn;t really anything new, i liked the new mos def album and micachu and the shapes, the hold steady few other bands, can;t say there was a massive amount to right home about on that side of things either.

The only newish band i saw live at the festivals i went to that really made me wish i was 16 again so i could properly enjoy it was Enter Shikari

Yeah, electro has been shit this year, (I thought you hated electro anyway?) with only a couple of notable exceptions.

Best track has been A-Trak's remix of yeah yeah yeahs:

Music in general this year, it hasn't really been great overall.

There have been a few great albums though, particular favourites off the top of my head have been Phoenix, the xx, Fever Ray... will try to have a proper think though.

My ladyfriend (who is definitely real and not imaginary) has this in her playlist for tonight. Heard it today for the first time, saw a trak while I was over for the bookfair, delightful.

Eh? I generally rate a really good indie disco/drunken singalong over electro because i find it all a bit more memorable since electro is quite a transient genre, don;t hate it though.
I must admit though i've not been massively tempted to go out to many electro nights in London of late, i find myself making excuses too often (largely because said nights are in dalston and are full of people who should be set on fire) and the lack of anything that interesting or innovative music wise.
